With Texas' late implosion I say yes. I realize they were picked to win the league, but with everything they've gone through to finish 10-6 is remarkable.

Absolutely not...they were preseason favorites.

Barnes will still get it, his team wasn't expect to be this good regardless of their performance the past few games. He starts two freshman and has a top 5 nationally ranked defense.

I agree, his team is playing the way now they were expected to play at the beginning of the year. A 10-6 record is not as good as a 12-4 worst case scenario for Texas and Kansas could be 13-3 for both schools. Both teams had a rebuilding year. The principal criticisms of SELf AND Barnes is that superior performance was expected. Preseason the expectations were KSU , KU, Texas in that order with perhaps Baylor coming in 3 rd.

No way! His team was one of the biggest let-downs most of the year and he's had guys quit one after another. They are finally starting to play up to their potential, but they were picked to win the Big 12 and are going to finish 4th at best. That is not deserving of coach of the year. I'd take Self, Barnes, Turgeon, or Doc Sadler before him.

+1

Despite the fact that they are turning it on at the right time, you have to go by body of work... In which case Martin doesn't meet the COY standards.
