Reports are that if they were to ofeer him the job he would take it. Apparently he feels he's taken KSU as far as he can and it's time for a chance. So far SC hasn't offered him anything but there might have been contact.

South Carolina...lol, same division as Florida, Kentucky and Missouri? Not to mention an always scrappy Vanderbilt?

Not saying a smart move. Just what is being reported. Last year I believe it was Miami.

IMO, if he didn't take the Miami job, where his family lives, he isn't going to South Carolina.

South Carolina is where good coaches go to coach 3-5 years and then are fired and get a big settlement.

Martin and the AD are NOT getting along...that's the big difference between last year and this year.

The suspension of Jamar Samuels very well may have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

I bet he's gone.

I didn't know he and the AD weren't getting along. He has made KSU relevant again and Manhattan is not an easy place to bring in a solid proven coach. If he leaves, they will be back to hiring the Tom Asbury's and Jim Wooldridge's of the world.

Frank Martin is not going to to take a job South Carolina a week after S. Miss band members were chanting "where's your green card" to his point guard.

South Carolina is right behind Miss when it comes to racist white trash and Martin likes to cater to a diverse roster.

A few racist idiots in Mississippi isn't going to influence Martin's decision to leave any more than the Westboro Baptist Church is going to influence him to leave kansas.

And if you want to talk diversity, South Carolina's got a huge edge there. kansas is among the least diverse states in the US, whereas South Carolina is less than 70% white. It's also a lot closer to Florida, where Martin recruits heavily, and DC, another area he's found a number of players (within driving distance of both).

I'd be surprised if he took the job, but mostly because I'd expect him to have better options, either this year or next. I could see him being a candidate at Florida State in a few years (Leonard Hamilton is like 63 and will probably retire pretty soon).

Sounds to me like South Carolina is leaking this stuff to the press to make it seem he appears interested. I would be really surprised if he took it.

Big Old Booger is right.
It's not a better job than the Miami job he turned down and he's from Miami, right?

You could be right. All the reporting around here is based on what people at SC are saying.

He coached HS in Miami.

Edit. Local show that in part covers KSU saying that SC has asked for permission to talk to him. That is all so far.

Miami can't pay him like SC. It's essentially a mid-major.
