It gets strange. In the 4 and 5A divisions (I'm not sure how many divisions operate at what level), the top three teams in any district make the playoffs. Then, they determine which goes to what division by size of enrollment. The largest school that makes the playoff is in Division I. The other two schools are in Division 2. Thus, there are twice as many teams in Division 2.And as always you did an excellent job. That's kind of strange that Texas has two divisions of Class A in basketball. I know in football at least in their largest class (5A) they have two divisions when playoffs start. I think it has to do with school enrollment. I know last year Katy played in the second division of 5A and lost in the finals, this year they played in the first division and lost in the quarter finals to Pearland the eventual champion.
This means that the actual district champion may well be in Division 2. The top-ranked team in the state may be in Division 2. This happens a lot.
