Future Sooners

And as always you did an excellent job. That's kind of strange that Texas has two divisions of Class A in basketball. I know in football at least in their largest class (5A) they have two divisions when playoffs start. I think it has to do with school enrollment. I know last year Katy played in the second division of 5A and lost in the finals, this year they played in the first division and lost in the quarter finals to Pearland the eventual champion.
It gets strange. In the 4 and 5A divisions (I'm not sure how many divisions operate at what level), the top three teams in any district make the playoffs. Then, they determine which goes to what division by size of enrollment. The largest school that makes the playoff is in Division I. The other two schools are in Division 2. Thus, there are twice as many teams in Division 2.

This means that the actual district champion may well be in Division 2. The top-ranked team in the state may be in Division 2. This happens a lot.

OU commit Maddie Manning in limited action was the leading scorer as her Ankeny team won on the road against conference foe Indianola 53-26. Manning had 22 points making 10 field goals including a 3 pointer and one free throw. Ankeny played 12 players in the game.
Ankeny took a 16-1 lead after 1 period and was ahead 25-10 at the break. Ankeny pushed the lead up to 44-18 after 3 periods.

Syb, thanks for giving a better explanation. I work with a fella whose Grandson did just that at Katy. Strange system, but I guess it works for Texas with so many schools that compete.

Midwest City beat Del City 54-33, but Kaylon Williams only had 2 points as she played ill according to her coach.

Star Spencer won at OKC Southeast 46-27.

Have not been able to find any results of Orange Park or Brocks games that were played on friday, but the new poll out in Texas shows Brock with another win.
Brock had been favored at Jacksboro by more than 20 points so I assume they won, However Orange Park with Katherine Zander played the 2A defending champion on the road in Gainesville where they were a 6 point underdog by one source. Hopefully someone will post some results when they return to school tommorrow.

Coaches Aide dropped Star Spencer to #31 in their ratings this week, claiming they dropped them because of the teams weak performance over 2 weak teams in their wins last week.:facepalm

Not much info, but Brock won 77-25. Kamy had 24 points, with lots of steals, assists and rebounds.

Ankeny 12-1 lost it's 1st. game of the season to Mason City 11-3 by 3 points.
After 1 period Ankeny trailed 9-10 and was behind 17-20 at the half and Manning had been held to just 2 points in the opening half.

Sharane had 14 points in their win.

Katherine Zander and her Orange Park team will be the underdogs in their game today at Bartrum Trail.
The last time these two teams met back on 12/14 at Orange Park the home team lost to visitors 49-63. Good luck Katherine.

Sharane had 14 points in their win.

When I saw Star Spencer play last month Sharane Campbell was drawing double teams. Last season they had another good player, but she graduated. I've only seen her play in one game, but she reminded me of how Rose Hammond was in high school.
