Gallon/Warren/Taylor G summer league updates

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Tiny was playing good D!!

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

I also noticed that Taylor Griffin has been starting and attempting a bunch of threes. (seven of them in two games) I guess that's what they are hoping his role would be. I don't see it. I see him more as a banger, rebounder, energy guy. His outside shot never looked good to me. He did hit one each game though, so who knows.

The Sun's ESPN TrueHoop Blogger isn't very optimistic that Taylor will make the team this year.

4. Griffin’s last chance?

Taylor Griffin holds a tenuous grip on a Phoenix Suns roster spot. He’s a model teammate who works hard and understands the system, but he just doesn’t possess NBA swingman skills as hard as he’s been working at it.

Or does he?

He’s now spent a year attempting to convert from a college post player to an NBA wing player. Does he have the shooting range and handles for such a move? He certainly has NBA athleticism, but it’s hard to say he has NBA skills. This summer league is important to showcase himself for an NBA job somewhere, if not in Phoenix.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

The good news for Tiny was that he was a perfect 1 for 1 from 3 point range.

right now it's going to be a detriment. he's not going to make the team as a second round draft pick at power forward who drifts to the 3 point line half the time.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

If you are going to play for the Suns, you better be able to start pulling when you cross half court.

your wrong .. his NBA range in all of his workouts is what had teams looking at him in the late first round ...

he is almost a lock to make the team

lol. locks don't log 6 minutes in their first summer league game. darnell jackson and sean williams played more than twice the minutes he did. hitting 3's in workouts and drifting back to the 3 point line within the first minute you come into a game are two completely different things. power forward's can't grab a rebound 25 feet from the bucket. stay in the post, pass the ball. do those two things and he'll play more than sean freaking williams.

if he's a lock, then he gave out the first number of the combination tonight.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Willie scored 10, had a couple of rebounds, an assist and a steal or two in his first game.

He started slow, kind of tentative, but seemed to get more comfortable as the game went on. He also showed some nice defensive energy.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Tiny is the fourth best PF on his summer league team. Someone please tell me how that is a good thing.

Willie didnt really do anything while Bledsoe and the other main players were in the game, but they left and he played the last 7 or 8 minutes of the 4th quarter as the main guy.

But, not a bad summer debut for him.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

I thought Bledsoe was horrible at the pg. They'll have to break him down like Westbrook.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

WW looked like he was just trying to play in the flow of the game ...

he was a little shy on O early on ... IMHO he played the best D on john Wall that we have seen in 2 games ... and he picked it up on D late ... he had a very solid first game

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Willie had some good plays. I saw one, where he snagged a rebound and led the break. Unfortunately, DeAndreJordan charged with the ball, so Willie didn't get an assist.

From what I saw of Tiny, he wasn't "floating around the three point line." He was living in the paint. He even played some solid post defense.

I concur with all of these assessments.

Good to hear that Tiny played well, I had to work last night and all I saw of the Bucks game was Tiny jack up a bad shot as soon as he entered in the first quarter.

Well, while Bledsoe was in the game, he spent more time turning the ball over than involving Willie.

You could see Willie's confidence and comfort level rise as the game went on. If that trend continues, he's going to be just fine.

Re: Gallon/Warren summer league updates

Houston plays at 5:30 today. Hopefully, Crocker can get on the court and get some tape. He has 3 DNP-Coaches Decision. Some Summer League game tape will help him land a better Euro offer.
