Yea that’s not a very impressive list of teams, and some are in their first year with a new coach — it’s somewhat understandable they’d schedule soft. We are in year five, and have Moser’s hyped portal class on board. The biggest issue is that this very clearly is his preferred way of scheduling. I can’t stand the guy as a coach but I don’t think he is a complete idiot. He obviously understands how bad the teams he lines up are, and how that affects our metrics, yet he keeps doing it. It’s too bad we can’t hire a GM to take over all scheduling responsibilities from him (until the glorious day when PM isn’t our coach).Fair, but I think there is a reason why most of these teams you listed are not also always in the tournament.
Iowa (last appearance 2023 - 8 seed)
Georgia (9 seed last year, 1 appearance in last 10 years)
Cal (last appearance 2016)
Miami (last appearance 2023)
Boston college (last appearance 2009)
Texas a&m (Buzz Williams last 3 years - outlier)
Missouri (6 seed last year, 4 tournaments in the last 12 years)
Umass (last appeareance in 2014)
S Carolina (last appearance in 2024, 6 seed, R1 exit)
WV (last appearance in 2023, 9 seed)
Also the outlier, Aggies non-con last year was 34th.
