GAME 17 - OKLAHOMA (13-3) vs TEXAS (11-5) 9pm CST on SEC NETWORK

A couple of bad hires will do that to you. Look at Nebraska. But on the flip side a good coach can change everything. Iowa Stare went 0-19 not too long ago. Now they’re really really good. NIL will always play a role but it starts with good coaching.

Post game press conference, Jalon Moore: We came out lackadaisical, but when we got more aggressive... when we came together.... So my question is, you're 0-3 in conference. Playing your most hated rival, who you haven't beaten in like 5 years. Students in the stands. Really need a win. Explain to me how in the hell you come out lackadaisical? What the crap? How hard is it to play with desperation, reckless abandon, passion for 40 minutes? I wish somebody in the press would ask them why they feel like they've reached their quota playing hard for 15 minutes a game? Is it because they're getting paid? I don't get it..

It all comes down to coaching, coaching, coaching.

It makes me want to vomit when I see how many of the OU fan boy "journalists" have tweeted about the "fight" the team showed by coming back. What a joke. Fight is playing hard for 40 minutes. It's easy to bust your butt for a short segment when you have nothing to lose and the other team is sitting back and trying to protect a lead and wait for the clock to expire. How anyone (fans, media, players) can take anything positive from last night is beyond me.

This. Spare me the moral victory loser talk.

If we don't win Saturday, we will likely go winless in January. Looking at the remaining schedule, I don't see how we get more than 5 wins, and that is being very generous. Like I said a few days ago, my preseason O/U of 17.5 wins is very much in play despite us winning 13 games against the cupcake portion of the schedule.

If they don’t win Saturday they’ll go winless in conference. Tournament hopes are gone but Saturday will determine if they can snag a few wins in conference.

I’m so torn as a fan. I enjoy winning but I want what’s best for the program. Now that the tournament is out of reach I think I would rather just have them go winless in conference so it’s a guarantee Moser is gone. I could see a scenario where OU wins 18 games and Moser is retained. Maybe Moser resigns but what school would take him? Unless he’s willing to go back to the Missouri Valley.

I agree and hate when OU is in this position. Remember feeling like this with Blake in the 90s. You never want to cheer against OU but you know if left up to the dunderheads making the decisions a few wins might empower them to keep the status quo. So sad..

At this point, we will be fortunate to win 3 games in conference....I don't know how anyone could see it otherwise. This is a mediocre team in a great conference with deep roster flaws to go along with a coach without a plan (or at least a good plan).

Especially because the football program is suffering and so a winning record in basketball is good enough for now. Until priority number one is fixed. Idk just a bad feeling.

I was at the game, It was hilarious when they finally scored and cut the lead to like 18, the crowd just happens to get loud and the players thought the crowd was trying to will them back into it, when honestly they were celebrating the balloon snake being completed lol.

That’s hilarious. I’m going to the game against Vanderbilt. I fully expect to be one of maybe 500 fans there by then.

I saw that -- there was a point where Texas was inbounding the ball against our full court press and Fears definitely thought the fans were encouraging the team, but it was because the balloon had made it around the entire upper level.

Fears started trying to encourage the crowd to be louder. It was both hilarious and sad at the same time.

If we lose a few more games will Fears shut it down to get ready for the draft? Nightmare scenario really.

if i was the coach ..

it would be

Fears
Kobe
Taylor
Moore
Wague

to start ..

duke about 30 min a game off the bench .. sam as needed

and there would be large stretches where I would go small with Taylor and Moore at the 4/5
Crazy that it's the middle of January and Moser can't figure out the lineup or the rotations.

It's just so sad that there is nothing that we do consistently well. There is a guy in Houston who is writing a book about Sampson, and in recent tweets, he said a couple things about Kelvin's philosophy that seem so simple. The first is something anyone who has watched Sampson's teams knows: "we defend, we rebound, and we take care of the ball." Moser, on the other hand, sucks at all three. Rebounding and defense have sucked all year (are we still blaming the defense on post-holiday letdowns?). The turnovers started when the competition stiffened (18 TOs in each home game!!).

The other thing was about the demands Kelvin makes of his players. Talking about practice, he very simply said, "our practices never change." Which is to say, they are tough, demanding, physical, etc. It is non-negotiable. I know some of our Moser stans like to claims that Uzan is playing poorly at Houston. Truth is, he is playing well, he simply doesn't look to score. But he doesn't turn it over, sets guys up, and makes good decisions. More glaringly, if you watch them play, his defensive effort is light years better than last season. He is never going to be an emotional leader, but he is diving for loose balls and guarding far harder than he did at OU.

Moser is a complete failure in every regard. Our roster is bad (recruiting). Our player development isn't good. We have no on-court identity. We are soft and easy to play against. And to top it off, he can't even motivate his players or get them to play/compete hard.
