GAME 17 - OKLAHOMA (13-3) vs TEXAS (11-5) 9pm CST on SEC NETWORK

If OU really cared about basketball would it even have gotten to 0-8 ? What’s going on in football and basketball is an embarrassment for the university.

they will get the football figured out eventually. Probably not under Brent Venables but it will be back. I don’t have any faith in the basketball program long term, however.

HAVE to play players that give you best chance to win. For your job. Starting 5 should be Fears, forsythe, Glenn, Moore and wague. They give you best chance to win right now
This seems a bit much. Taylor had been awful the first three conference games and Forsythe gives you energy but nothing else. He played 10 mins and didn’t take a shot, had one assist and one board. I’m not downplaying what his energy did tonight, but can you really afford to start a guy who is absolutely no threat?

Goodine is the one I don’t get. He must have incriminating pictures of Loser because his minutes make no sense. He has had one good game in the past seven and yet he is playing 30+ minutes.

Sadly, there are no good answers because our roster isn’t good. It’s the annual reminder that you have to take what happens in noncon with a truckload of salt. We would win Moser’s old league (maybe, Drake would likely have something to say about that), but we have so many limited and flawed players that it’s hard to pick five you can count on.

Does this make me a bad fan?

Oh well. $$$.

Said it last game, there isn't much left to do.

The biggest arguments, in terms of the roster/playing time, right now?

Goodine vs Elvis - both kids aren't very good. I wanted Goodine to be more than he is. Sad. But Elvis isn't really the solution either IMO. It's like trading one bruised banana for another. Unfortunate that Nwankwo/Jones are injured.

Wague vs Godwin - neither kid is an SEC level starting C/F. Wague was better tonight but 5 quick fouls? You can't play him if he can't be more disciplined.

This roster, blame goes to Moser obviously, is bad, and there isn't much you can do now. I would play Dayton more. Goodine and Elvis are "mid". Maybe Forsythe gaining experience isn't a bad thing.

I may have been on to something though, joking about Nolan Richardson's 40 Minutes of Hell. That was implemented way back when due to Nolan feeling like his early roster wasn't very talented, if I remember my reading/watching correctly. Before he got the Days, Mayberrys, Williamsons, Thurmans, etc.

OU won the second half tonight by 12...playing at a frenetic pace. Maybe the key the rest of the season is implementing an OU baseball term - CHAOUS (OU's version of 40 Minutes of Hell)

I mean you have to try something. I’m going to not give up until it is done. 8 wins still doable. Get one on saturday
lol we haven’t played four of the five best teams in the league yet. This team winning 8 of 14 remaining games is as likely as Moser making a day without mentioning Majerus.

Only thing is, Dayton won’t be here next year. None of these guys will be here with a new coach. So simply giving him minutes for the sake of experience down the road doesn’t make sense. You have to play the guys who give you the best chance right now. If a guy can’t contribute anything offensively, he needs to be an absolute lockdown defender, and he isn’t that. Trying hard is great, but it’s not enough. Spot minute, maybe. But let’s be real, Moser staked the season on guys like Miles, Elvis, and Goodine. Some of us got attacked for saying they weren’t good enough, and here we are. But with the way our roster is constructed, we need them to play, and hopefully be halfway decent.
