GAME 34 - ROUND 1 - OKLAHOMA (20-13) vs UCONN (24-10) 8:25pm CST on TNT

Every play doesn’t get run correctly in the NBA finals. An 18 stud freshman had a lapse, it happens all the time with every team. Hell UCONN couldn’t inbound the ball from the sideline the entire game.
Sure but this is a pattern repeated throughout Moser’s tenure. Either the play call is terrible or they screw up whatever play was called. Either way, it’s on the head coach.

So would you rather have fears on floor with a possible brain fart or Elvis? Cause fears has has done similar all season, but I still would prefer him on floor. Players make mistakes at times.
Fears wasn't great in end-of-game situational basketball moments. Yes, he is/was our best option, but let's not act like he was nails late in all games. Of course, it's to be expected from a freshman who was asked all year to do more than he should have been, because of our lack of anyone else who could do it. We had no finisher on this team, and it showed. Having a finisher covers up a lot of late game gaffs at all levels of basketball.

I no longer think it's reasonable. I didn't at the beginning, started to after the LSU game, and now think it's crazy again. Who are we going to get that's better? Who would come into a situation with a 50-year-old arena, no NIL and a fanbase that gives up on the team after one loss? Our reputation in the basketball community is getting worse and worse.
Like I said, without more NIL $$$, it doesn’t matter. So I agree with you.

But if more NIL $$$ is on the way, we can probably attract a good coach. A new arena is probably happening.

True, but the guy who made all the plays for them late is a two time defending champ, Alex Karaban. His experience showed late.
He hit some shots. I thought he was like their best player. Overall I thought he kinda sucked tbh.

Mosers strength has been recruiting these past two years with little NIL but his weakness has been end game management. Good game plan but terrible end of game management.

If so, did we not have a timeout if pm wasn't getting the play he wanted? Or just eff it?
Could have used a timeout, but probably not wise to do so, around 5-6 seconds left on the shot clock. At that point, you don't know how the rest of the game is going to play, you may need the timeout later. Hindsight is 20/20.

Some people casually watch basketball and think any play has only one option....Miles wasn't the first option on that play. Plays b real down sometimes, defenses take stuff away and players make mistakes....and those aren't coaching mistakes...it just happens....its basketball.

Some of you want to hang on 2-3 plays so you can vilify PM to prove a point. Then downplay anything positive he does.

That comes with the territory as a coach though.

You won't find a post from me bashing him during portal. You'll def find a post from me begging for another big man tho.

Idk, either wague had the greatest turnaround as a big man at ou since longar longar, or pm mismanaged wague.

Maybe...just maybe the staff did what alot of people on here say PM and Co CAN'T do...they developed him and he improved throughout the year?

God forbid that would ever happen

Why did it take 25 secs to allegedly try to get the ball to fears but fail to do so?

We have a 4 year sample size of his terrible coaching

None of them played very well. That's probably why we lost. Had any one of them played close to their best, we probably make a few shots and win.
Agreed. I think Forsyth played the least bad of the 4. He certainly missed less shots than the rest. And I'm getting roasted for it lol

Like I said in my post.. it's possible. I think its unlikely. But why didn't Godwin improve much or at all then? Just simply doesn't have the tools of wague?

We brought the ball up court, tried to run something, couldn't get anywhere - that took off 8 seconds. Porter calls TO. Calls the exact same play we successfully ran vs Kentucky to get Fears an open 3. Ran the play, Fears never comes back for the ball. He's 18, he has lapses, all 18 year old kids do. Heck, even 15 year NBA vets do.

Godwin did improve. Quite a bit, actually. But Godwin isn't the athlete Wague is. We all knew that if Wague could figure out how to play without fouling, he could be dangerous. And he figured that out at the end of the season.
