GAME 9 - OKLAHOMA (6-2) @ Arizona St (6-2) 9:00pm CST on CBS Sports Network

Well I thought our team was really getting better after winning a couple solid games in a row but then tonight we just showed how absolutely horrible we can be. Granted the other team shot very well but we did nothing to try to impact that. This will be another one of those seasons in the SEC where we are fighting tooth and nail to be at .500, I can just see it. I'd be over the moon if I ended up being wrong here but this team might actually have to worry about just making the tournament, once again. I think that's on the coaching with this type of talent.

Arizona State had one win over a power conference school before tonight and it was by one point over the Texas team that gust got destroyed on their home court. Bobby Hurley, who would have been fired long ago if his university cared about basketball, just boat raced mid major Moser.

One solid win. Not a couple.

I have done the math on our 9 games this season, and we are -5 in first halves and +88 in second halves. It’s unreal how unprepared we start games night in and night out. I suppose credit is due to halftime adjustments but in the SEC (and vs Gonzaga & ASU), we’re gonna be in too big of holes to dig out of.

That may be the season right there. They lose Bedlam and it’s done. It’s just the reality. No way this team wins more than 11 games in conference.

I think this team is going to end up fighting for bottom 4 in the sec…
They’ll surprise us a handful of times. I think some nights they’re going to look like a tournament team. I could still see .500 in conference. But that won’t be enough to get them into the tournament.

Or, it’ll be another 15-17 type year. This year is feeling closer to 2022-2023 with each disappointing loss

I don’t even make much of the halftime adjustment angle. Gonzaga and ASI had the games won at halftime. We never threatened either of them in the second half. I don’t know how much of that is adjustments and how much is them just coasting when they know the game is over. And in the high school games, it’s more just a matter of (a) those teams are so bad they can’t sustain things for an entire game, and (b) we wake up when we realize that we are in a close game against a team in the 320s and pull our heads out of our butts just long enough to avoid a total embarrassment. I don’t think there is any master coaching adjustment taking place.

You want to see something funny, and that is a direct reflection of coaching? We have a borderline top 30 offense. Yet mid major Moser has us playing at the 230th fastest tempo in the country. Mid major sure is smart. And sure knows how to take advantage of our experienced guards and allegedly great athletes in the front court.
