Aaliyah Wilson back to back POY honors. Impressive.
She's a special kid. Think she will be just like the other Oklahoma kid (Courtney walker) and have a great college career. Best kid to come out since walker
I'm sure this has been discussed at length before, but how did OU miss on Wilson?
Let's make an assumption that Leroy is correct, and no college in Oklahoma offered her. You ask why. Both Mac and I have posted that we question whether she will be able to do what she does in highschool against D-1 competition. She is a 5-10 G that Prospect Nation said needed an outside game. Her forte is driving to the hoop. She isn't that good as a dribbler. She is stronger than the typical HS guard, and she can rebound her own misses. Now, can you see her driving the lane against a Boyette or Mompremier? Can you see her getting her own offensive rebound until she scores? If not, it might be possible that a Kansas might be the only Big Twelve school that thought she was worth the risk. I don't know that this is what happened. But, neither do you. It's one thing when the top player in the state signs with a college outside the state, BUT IT'S ANOTHER THING when they don't even consider a college within their state. In this case AWilson (Muskogee).
Ok, ok...I know, I know! Some kids want to get away from home, BUT they at least consider at least one of the programs in the state. She considered two schools within the conference so she was at least looking at playing against OU and OSU. She's going to Arkansas which doesn't say much for OSU, OU or even Tulsa for that matter.
And if OU and OSU didn't offer, why not? What did Arkansas see that they didn't (if that's the case)? You've got to get the top players in the state to at least take an official and consider.
I think Leroy suggested on another thread that nobody in Oklahoma (presumably OU and OSU) offered her.
OU offered her in 8th going into 9th grade while Dungee was committed to Osu. OU was the first to offer Wilson. She did not commit right away so I'm guessing OU backed off and went with Dungee when she decomitted from O-State.
If this is true, what would that tell you?
That OU wanted Wilson but settled for Dungee? Only point I can think of... Other than Sherri wants verbals right away from in state recruits and Wilson did not do that.

OU offered.
OU got a commitment from Dungee.
OU backed off?
Does that sound like Wilson is a can't miss type of prospect? You can't take Dungee and Wilson?
Didn't OSU offer Wilson?

When Chelsea committed to OU wasn't she Top 10 recruit??? Pretty sure that was the case and all were excited and then shortly thereafter some began to downgrade her.
You are missing the entire point. So I'm going to have to break it down so you can understand.
1. Dungee top 25 kid in the 8th/9th grade was committed to OSU. She made it clear when she committed she wanted to stay in the state of Oklahoma. Osu was the first to offer Dungee and she accepted.
2. OU discovers Aaliyah Wilson in the 8th/9th grade and offers her right away. Wilson does not commit, OU backs off..OSU makes an offer, Wilson keeps options open.
3. Tragedy happens, Dungee decommits from OSU, a year later OU offers Dungee accepts.
4. Wilson starts pouring in offers from the likes of Texas,Baylor, Louisville etc....
You all have to understand Wilson was very under the radar for a long time. She did not become nationally ranked until this past year.
5. Wilson joins DFW Elite out of Dallas, Becomes nationally ranked, and a McDonald's all American.
6. Dungee was committed to OSU in 8th/9th grade. Was a top 25 kid in the 8th/9th grade. Bounced around from AAU teams every year, dropped 60+ spots in the rankings....
I've never agreed with the rankings but what does all this tell you?
