Gibson and Harkless

I don't believe that is true. He already has 3 college seasons. With a redshirt, you can have 5 at most (assuming no medical waiver). If he sits out next year, that would be 4. And he'd play his 5th season the following the year.

He has 2 years to play 2. If he sits out, he'll have 1 to play 1.

you are correct he has the med redshirt that first year ... i forgot about that

So, does that mean the waiver CoachTalk referenced is based on the year he sat out due to medical issues? If so, that does indeed appear to be a possible route to eligibility.

I wouldn't think so. Two separate issues. Medical would be about getting him an extra year. I think our main issue is needing him to be eligible next year, instead of having to sit out a year like most non-grad transfers typically do.

I'm not sure what the waiver would be based on. Usually personal issues. No coaching change at NT (I don't think). He was from Waco, so probably not moving closer to home (think sick relative). Not saying coach is wrong, I'm sure they are looking at something, just saying it's not overly obvious what hat something could be.

Nothing there I don’t agree with, WT. Coach seems to think our coaching staff is confident. Let’s hope he’s right.

Say he doesn’t get eligible, should he be allowed to redshirt since his 1st one was a medical? That’s how Kur got an extra year.

I doubt he's already gotten paperwork that the first one was a medical redshirt. The NCAA typically doesn't make that determination until the end of eligibility. Right now it's probably just a regular redshirt.

That said, it won't matter. If the first year was medical, this year would be a redshirt. If the first year was a redshirt, this year he'd just be missing. Either way, whether he gets a medical or not, he has 2 years to play 2 at OU.

It would matter if he’s denied eligibility this year.

There is a waiver in to play this year. They fill Confident. I don’t know what it consists of.

NCAA has been handing out waivers like candy in football, so if our coaching staff has even the slightest confidence in their argument, I am confident as well.
