Maybe I need to see the replay a few more times, but that looked like a nice call and Lattin just whiffed on a dunk. Can't blame Kruger for a guy who looked like (to me) was in perfect position for a dunk.

The real crime was calling a timeout in the first place. Looked like Cousins had momentum going to the rim and they called a timeout.

It was a horrible lob from Cousins but Spangler has a gimme that he left short.

A Tech player backed into Lattin, taking him out of the play. A clear foul.

I think Spangler was fouled on the rebound/putback too.

And the Tech player traveled in the final second. The clock had not reached 0:00 when he started running with the ball.

I'm with you on the timeout, though. Cousins had 'em cold on his drive.

Lattin didn't whiff. He got creamed. Watch the replay.

Make no mistake, I'm not blaming the refs for the loss. Terrible possessions on both ends in the last 2 minutes cost us the game. But Lattin got wiped out on the dunk.

Put Buford in and lob it to him, Lattin does not go up strong in traffic!

You sure about that? I won't commit to anything until I see the replay some more but it looked like Lattin should have dunked that.

And, you are right, wide open easy look for Spangler there too. Didn't Spangler whiff on a close shot in the Big 12 tournament last year too?

I'm not blaming the refs for the loss (though they were terribly inconsistent throughout -- what else is new), but I'm blaming them for the final play. It was a good call and it would have worked without the foul.

Of course, even if called correctly, we've got Lattin going to the line for two, and who knows how that would have gone.

I am pretty sure Cousins scores with 12 seconds to go if they don't call that timeout.

Haha dude you blame more games on the ref then I've seen on this board...sometimes your guys just have to finish. There's gonna be contact late in games...part of the sport. Gotta deal with it. Spangler went up and short armed it...Lattin needs to be more physical...dude gave up a ton of off Rebs...

That was a HORRIBLE call for three reasons.

One, they are never going to call the foul on a lob at the end of the game. Two, even if they do call the foul, Khadeem Lattin is a 57% free throw shooter, so we're more than likely going to lose even if they do call the foul. Three, Kadeem hasn't shown to be a great finisher on lobs even when there is no resistance. The play just didn't make any sense. You have some of the best shooters in the nation, get them the best look they can get and hope it goes in. Don't get cute and try to catch them off balance on a lob to the worst offensive starter in the conference.

The ball hit off the backboard but Lattin was under the backboard. It looked like a bad pass from Cousins but Lattin was pushed out of the play so should have been a foul there. I don't know if you get that foul in that situation anyway unless you are KU. So, I will say that was a poor decision by Cousins. He should have tried to get a score and foul.

And to put how nuts this season has been in perspective, consider this: There is a pretty reasonable chance that we end up as a 4 seed and Duke ends up as a 1 seed, when they were unranked two weeks ago and we were the number 1 team in the country.

I don't think that was the play call. Cousins made that decision when everything else fell apart.

My comment was not directed at you. Please understand that. I typed mine as you typed yours and didn't see yours until I hit post. And I agree that Spangler was also fouled.

It just never should have mattered. We had so many bad possessions in the last 2 1/2 minutes that we didn't deserve to win.

I thought it was the second option after Buddy wasn't open, but the point remains. It shouldn't even have been on the table, you have too much offensive talent for that to ever end up with what you're going to. It's an incredibly low percentage play, much worse than Isiaih just taking the floater off the drive.

Well said. Agree 100%. A little too cute. Buddy was a decoy the whole time. And if I'm gonna run a high-risk play, it should be for the win, not to get to OT on the road.

Yep, so much for the emphasis on fouls. Officials always revert back to the same calls, or lack thereof. Will be worse in NCAA tourney.

The thing about these calls, is that it is a known fact that refs swallow their whistles in the final seconds of a game. That means you can't draw up plays that can be destroyed by contact from the opponent because it just isnt' going to get called.

The game was lost when OU was up 61-57.

Didn't secure the rebound
Turnover
Airball

you have evidence to support that? So we shouldn't drive to the hoop to try to get a basket or foul? I disagree. When shots aren't falling, getting something going to the basket is the right call. It just didn't work, partly because Lattin and Spangler were fouled.
