Good news day after tomorrow

Coach: is the second anticipated transfer a guard, forward or big? Thanks.

Think it’s a guard but I haven’t heard a name yet. Just guessing

So both transfers may be guards? I like it, but it would be nice to get another big that could actually score like Tashawn Thomas.

Honest question. If the two transfers are guards, did the coaching staff just anticipate more of a log jam at guard with Jamal? Our guards would have been

Harmon
Jamal
Garang
Williams
Hill
Reaves
Transfer 1
Transfer 2
Phipps

That’s 9 scholarship guards

Bigs

Rick
Kur
Manek

So would every school in the country! Most guys that can play that well these days go play pro somewhere or are transferring to the elite programs.

Also, I think we'll see Hill and Garang play some small ball 4 next season (unless there's another transfer outside of the 2 guards coming in). Assuming Garang is ready to contribute.

The post rotation next year:
Kur, Victor, Hill, Issanza, and Manek.

I am not concerned about that at all. You have Manek in there who is an all conference player, then the other guys block shots, rebound, dunk, defend, etc.

Are you guys concerned?

Not really. Would like one more bc my guess is that Issanza is still a year away & I’m not sure if Kur, Vic, & Hill can play 50 mins of solid post play a game yet. To me it’s more about Vic, I think he could be really good.

I'm concerned because I'm not sure any of those guys, besides Manek, are ready to play starter minutes, barring a big leap in development. What did we see this past season that is encouraging?

See this is my biggest concern. Mentioned before, but Victor didn't show that he is ready for big minutes or has any real idea of how to play the game of basketball yet. Kur, I do like, but tall skinny guys with some injury issues make me nervous. Issanza hasn't played yet, again tall and skinny. Hill is a SF that I do agree could play some small ball 4 for Manek if needed. I think if everyone stays healthy we could have a solid 3 man rotation then hopefully get some contribution from Issanza or Hill.

I think you can get great production out of Kur and Vic, as a compliment to Manek. Lots of lobs, dunks, blocks, etc. Kur made big strides and has another offseason to get bigger and learn.

I agree with you about Ricky... he looks so raw in his high school tape. Maybe he progressed a lot in the redshirt year, but I would say he will get situational use this year, mop up minutes, put in to foul, etc.

Yes I think minutes will go:
Manek- 32
Hill- 8 (just post minutes, will see time on the wing)
Kur & Vic - 40

My main concern would be if anyone gets hurt RI has to be put in. If Manek sulks then the other 3 guys’ minutes go up. If Kur or Vic isn’t playing well can the other play 30 minutes?
