While the stellar campaign is helping to limit Odomes’ playing time, the former Bulldawg has no issue with learning from the bench.

“I knew the situation I was coming into,” Odomes said. “I knew I was going to have to wait for my time. Most people come in and expect to be the man, but it does not happen like that all the time.

“This year, I’m just picking everything up and learning, and it has been a great experience so far. We are off to a great start as a team, so I can’t complain.”

I think this guy has lots of up side. Hopefully he and all the freshman will get more minutes in some up coming games. We will need them.

A fine young man, as all of the Kruger recruits seem to be.

Even with a lot of upside, Rashard will really have to battle to earn a starting spot on the team next year. There is serious competition and it won't be easy.

I'll be honest, I was a little worried about Odomes, Playing some early and then now nothing.

Ive talked to a few on the inside and this truly is soaking it all in and readying himself for the future.

Probably going to jinx it, but literally the most serious infraction in Lon's 5 years here has been Isiaih getting drunk and running away from the cops. That's a pretty damn good track record.

Luv Rachard's game and potential. Think he has the most upside. Hoping he puts in the work.

Amen to that! Every player on this team seems to be focused on putting the team and their teammates first. They are very "family" oriented, and that's a credit to the kind of student athletes LK and his staff have been bringing to OU.

As proof of the kind of team chemistry I'm talking about, keep an eye on the bench when someone on the floor makes a great play by blocking a shot or knocking down a three, etc.

To be honest, I was a little worried about Buford early in the season. He wasn't getting to play much, and when he did he nothing seemed to be going right for him. It helps to get more playing time, of course. But I have also noticed a change in his demeanor on the bench. He seems to be genuinely happy now. I hope I'm interrupting Dante's body language correctly, because I think he has a very bright future at OU.

I'll add that I love Odomes' upside! I followed him as close as I could after he committed to OU. He was a star in high school. So it has to be tough watching mostly from the bench, waiting for an opportunity to prove himself. I have no doubt it will come in time. He's too good to be a semi-permanent fixture on OU's bench. It's good to know he's far more mature about it than most young men his age would be.

Continue to be patient, Rashard! You will get your turn.

You say this today:

But were you just pulling our chain here?
Odomes is struggling with not playing. I hope he knows the next 3 years are his and James.

Because in the context of this thread you are painting a very dark picture. I'm sure it wasn't your intent, but in a vacuum that could be taken for churning the rumor mill.

He is very happy and is working on getting his game ready to produce more. A great attitude about improving his game. His shot will be overhauled in the offseason.

except the Yo-Yo deal in The Bahamas...

Good. Glad he's got his head on straight. Esp with James getting some minutes

Everything after the hitch looks pretty good. But he freezes the ball high before going into his motion, which means he's short more times than not.
