Guys, I'd love to hear any ideas to get students to show up for Baylor

Cyclone Alley has a points system that they installed at the beginning of this season. They have it set up as 1 point for mens' games, 2 points for womens' games, 2 for going to game watches, and 4 for roadtrips. Oklahoma probably couldn't do something like this for the current season, but would definitely be a good way to raise student attendance. ISU Mens and Womens' hoops are seeing record student attendance numbers this year... and that is the sole reason.

What kind of rewards do the points earn?

If the product's exciting, they won't have to be enticed. It's not some exotic, unfamiliar sport we're selling here; it's basketball.

Might a few students come to a game and be pleasantly surprised at how much fun they have? Sure, a few. But most of them already have a pretty good idea what the experience of attending a game is like.

And so again I say, if they have to be enticed to attend, they won't bring much to the arena other than a butt to put in a seat.

Disagree. People will stand up and make noise if the people around them are, if for no other reason than they'll look like a douche if most people are standing and cheering and they aren't.

I think you need to get your group to line the front row of actual seats and stand the whole game. It will force everyone else to stand in the section. The segregation of good fans from bad has made the student section much lamer overall.

Go the sororities and get them to send the pledge classes are part of school spirit. I assume they still make the pledges do things like build floats for homecoming, etc. This seems quite similar.

Then go to the fraternities, tell them all the girls will be there and get the guys to make their pledges go to the game. 10 frats and 10 sororities with about 30 per pledge class is 600 people. I would assume if the greek system was doing this that members would also go.

They won't just go. You'd have to go to the university administration and get them to incentivize it somehow. Using it as a way to get an alcohol strike removed earlier would be a good way to get the frats out. You could get sororities out by making it count towards the presidents cup or whatever the award for top sorority is. Honestly, this will likely only work for one or two games a year. 99% of sorority girls don't GAS about OU basketball but you could maybe get them to show up for a once a season event.

Everything is considered hazing these days. Someone would probably file a lawsuit.

Earth shattering idea.

If I was in a fraternity, and they forced me to go to the Tech game, I certainly would have filed a lawsuit. :ez-laugh:

On subjects besides me making awful jokes, I picked up a bunch of flyers from marketing today, and I'm going to go around this weekend and hang those around campus and some restaurants close to campus that have bulletin boards. Also we're going to get balloons from marketing early next week. We're hoping to get approval to have confetti for the floor seats, which I think we should be able to get considering we're willing to sweep it up after the game.
