well he ain't getting drafted. and he will get told that. it will actually work out better for him to be a free agent. but yeah, bad decision. he could have showcased himself next year as a true point guard and a better shooter, and moved into a second round projection. i do wish him the best though.

Unfortunately, the number of underclassmen who enter the draft every year far outweighs the the number of draft positions. That means every year guys are getting bad advice. I think this has only impacted one OU player in the past, TMG...after June, it will be two. TMG did not have his head screwed on right...Harmon really could have used those two years to put himself into a position to be drafted.

If Buddy Hield left OU after his sophomore year, he would not have been drafted. If he left after his junior year, he would have been a 2nd round pick. Either way, I doubt he would have an $80-90 million contract right now. I wish more young men were smart enough to follow his lead.

Lots of talk about how college players lose value every year they get older. Well, that’s really only true for guys aiming to go at the very top of the draft. Teams drafting 1-4 definitely are hoping to find the next Lebron or Luka, so a four year player who is 22 likely isn’t going to get a long look from those teams if they feel the ceiling isn’t as high. But this is NOT true for teams later in the draft. Being 22 or 23 years old is not a turn off for teams trying to find help. Plenty of examples of this with Buddy being a very good one. There are plenty of others. I would say a player like Payton Pritchard is another good example. Probably had no chance at a legit NBA spot 3 years ago. But he polished his game in college, became a borderline star player by the time he was done, and now is a rotation player for the Celtics. He’s probably gonna be in the NBA for 10+ years. I think an NBA career was probably a long shot for Harmon either way, but he’s REDUCING his odds moving on now.

I couldn’t agree more! Skyvue was right about the interview when De’Vion said he wanted to be one and done. Nothing wrong with a kid wanting to be thst good, as long as he can stay grounded in reality.

He truly did see himself as the next TY. He also talked about how Lon said he would be used at OU, and it was very much like Trae was used. De’Vion and Trae were pretty close. I posted the video of a game during DH’s senior season when TY was there (he was in Dallas for a game against the Mavs and drove up to Denton to watch him play). The game was on television. DH had a great game, scored in the 30s as I recall, dunked on an opposing player.

There is no question he had a bright future at OU, and still does if he wants to come back. I just think he’s getting some bad advice to rush into his career as a pro right now.

unfortunately, willie should have left after his freshman year. at least he wasn't the second best player on the team when he was drafted in the second round. this really does reek of tmg, who had a much higher ceiling.

Any college degree will absolutely help you more than having none at all. 50% of jobs out there require one. If the guy knows that he isn't an NBA prospect like you mentioned, I don't know why he wouldn't take the free $40,000 in education and finish up school. Then, he can be in a much better spot after euro ball.
