Henson to UTSA

That was my thought. Along with Lew taking a job, I hope something's not happening behind the scenes.

I remember an article from very early in the season speculating that Hill and Henson would both be looking for other jobs because they've been with Kruger since he got to UNLV and put in their dues. I don't think there is any more to it than that.

I agree, I don't think they got in to coaching to be life long assistants. They want to be head coaches. The run we are on, with the development of these guys who weren't high recruits, gave them leverage in salary negotiations they didn't have in years past. I am very happy for both of them and grateful for the role they played in reviving the program and helping get us to Houston this year.

I'll admit I don't know much about UTSA basketball, but it strikes me as a pretty underwhelming program to finally lure Henson away from Kruger.

I was kind of thinking that if Henson does a nice job in his first 1-2 years with UTSA he might get the KSU job when it opens up. Sounds like that'll be fairly soon too.

That seems a reasonable scenario.

I'm happy for both coaches, but selfishly I wish they were sticking around another year or two. Next year's team will need some coaching up (every team does, but we're very young next season) and I wish we weren't having to bring in a couple of new guys to work with them.

But mostly I wish these hirings hadn't been announced or leaked till next week.

I can believe this.

This is why I think it's fine that they move on now. Kruger will hire good coaches who'll do great with the young kids. But it's going to be a learning and rebuilding year for everyone. I'd rather the moves be made now than preceding a hear we're going to contend. I think this would be worse if it happened before this season or the year after next.

Regardless, this is good for them and good for the program.

Means he wanted to be a HC. Earned the title. Nothing wrong with him leaving. OU isn't just giving the job to a rookie.

Not meant as a dig, I would bet part of him thought he would take over when Kruger retires...it was openly reported in the past. He probably realized that wasn't going to happen and needs HC experience. Nothing wrong with him leaving.
