New ARENA as part of entertainment District

not sure why the visit norman ceo feels like he deserves to know ....lol

this is very much about the county owning the arena i believe ..
I presume this is a good thing. If this happens as I understand it, this takes city of Norman politics out of the deal and we can perhaps move forward sooner.

Whatever became of the county commissioners' meeting regarding the arena? Sounds to me like if the county takes it over, the city of Norman is off the hook.

“Following Judge Virgin’s ruling, this agreement from the city is still intact, and those deadlines are still outlined in this agreement,” Jones said. “If down the road, something were to stop that, we would obviously put a hold on any agreement or any action. Right now, there is no court order, there's no injunction, there's nothing stopping this, which means we still have to abide by the deadlines in the contract.”

I think I understand now. The county is involved with economic development around the arena, but not the arena itself.

We're now at the mercy of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. That could go either way.

What is everyone’s prediction on what the Oklahoma supreme will do?

I know at least one Justice is an OU fan.

I know that shouldn’t matter when it comes to legal rulings, but it also couldn’t hurt.
FWIW, i listed to oral argument on a referendum petition this last year in front of OKSC. the attorney opposing the petition crushed it and the referendum was terribly misleading based on the "gist", among other deficiencies, and IMO the OKSC ignored all caselaw anyway and allowed the petition to proceed..

Idk all of the intricacies on this case tho. But I was surprised by that case above and I think it shows a bias of "letting the people decide" FWIW

did the oksc uphold a lower court ruling in that case or reverse it? (and does that even matter)
