New ARENA as part of entertainment District

did the oksc uphold a lower court ruling in that case or reverse it? (and does that even matter)
I'm not sure. I do not remember the underlying decision (if there was one).

But it doesn't matter for the small anecdotal point I'm giving that the OKSC seems pro "let the people vote", maybe even to a degree of ignoring precedent.

What do you think the seating will be?
I hope no more than 8,000.
LNC has been about 10k for a while now probably around that at max. I just hope with it being in a better spot you can get more people southern part of OKC to go to games regularly making it closer to capacity more often. Gotta have a good product on the court too consistently hasn't been for a while now.

I believe the proposal says 8,000 with the ability to scale up. I don’t know what or how they do that but maybe for “bigger” games they can add a few thousand fans.

the original plan was 10k .. but that was downsized due to cost ..

Just watched the '83 OSU at OU game on youtube. The announcers said the crowd had to be over capacity.
It was a madhouse, Wayman's freshman year.
If OU can win and play an entertaining brand of ball, I think the crowds would return regardless of where the games are being played.

I’ve been in LNC when it was standing room only several times … during Tubbs reign .. and again with Hollis/Q teams. When we were great, and had great opponents people showed up. People never showed for Sisters of the Poor.

It’s not the arena. LNC is the easiest to get to arena Ive been to. Most pro arenas are embedded in real cities and do not seem to suffer from the hell of getting in and out.

I love watching older games from the Tubbs era. I recently watched the OU/Duke game from 1990. Those teams were so fun to watch. I remember at one point, I had access to older OU b-ball games with an account I had with SoonerSports I believe. They had a game archieve available where you could watch several games from the 80's/90's. Does anyone know the best place now to watch games like that besides youtube? I would love to go watch some of those old OU/UNLV games or OU/Loyola Marymount games.

Maybe I should make a thread of those games in chronological order. I have a lot of those videos saved to SD cards and hard drives too if they get taken off of youtube.

do you have 1993 OU vs duke ??
Man, that was a game. Cameron Crazies going nuts and we were DEAD. Angelo Hamilton, nuf said. Jeff Webster.

Just wasn't enough to overcome Grant Hill and their Big 3.

Hopefully we can get the new arena going and have a similar environment, at least with the fans on top of the court.

You can’t compare 1983 to 2025. Sports were barely on TV in 1983.

My family's DVR setup died when the mega-storm in late April fried many cable systems here in Lawton. I had a few games saved, mostly wins over OSU and Kansas, not to mention many great football wins in the last 10 years and the softball national title games during the four-peat. I would be interested in seeing such a list.

I remember when the LNC was brand-spanking new, which was part of its appeal. Now it's a crumbling mess, almost 50 years later. I bought a ticket on-line for the OU-Mississippi State game in February in the lower southeast end of the arena. I started to sit down and noticed the seat was no longer anchored properly to the concrete. Either someone who was a candidate for the TV show "My 600-pound Life" had used it previously, or it was just broken through many years of use. So even though I'm not a Norman resident, I'm in favor of something brand-spanking new with easier I-35 access and nearby dining options.

There's just so few basketball games compared to football games. You can find probably close to about half of the OU from 80-89 and if you know where to look almost all of them since 2000. OU Basketball you can't even find all the NCAA Tournament games. Like I can only find parts of some of the Final Four run. UIC game and maybe Missouri wins in full.
