New ARENA as part of entertainment District

should hear back maybe as soon as today ..

if the judge tosses the vote (which is very possible) it will go to the Oklahoma Supreme Court .. a win there and the arena is on ..
judge tossed the petition .. arena and TIF are back on ..

it will get appealed to the Oklahoma supreme court

assuming it’s going to be appealed to the Oklahoma Supreme Court, does this mean this project will be on hold for a few more years? When will they actually break freaking ground?

OU may have to give away tickets next season to get any support. The product is a liability trying to fill seats.

Yes, it will be appealed to the OK Supreme Court. I'd guess it gets heard this year.

But in our system of government, and that in Norman with a council/manager form of city government, the people's vote WAS heard when the City Council held public meetings and then voted to approve the project.

The City Council is the vote of the people in their ward with representative government. The people in each Ward voted for the council member to represent their voice.

I mean if the "public" doesn't like the vote, then change council members. What's next, a petition to change the vote on a street project? A zoning issue from residential to commercial? Granting of a maintenance contract? The public doesn't change those decisions by a petition to send it to a city-wide vote, nor should they on the UNP.

Representative government is what we have. The average Joe voters do not have the time or information to vote on all these issues. That’s why they elect someone who they believe will vote closely to their own interests.

We wouldn’t have had to fight them if we had done the right thing 11 months ago.

The right thing would have been letting Moser play this year out without the extension imo. Then the buyout would have been far less. Now it is a problem that few are talking about.

I don’t know, I just feel like it was obvious a while ago that he wasn’t cut out for the job. Last year was one of the worst coaching jobs imaginable.

Do you think the Oklahoma supreme court will likely over turn this decision or uphold it?
honestly no idea I was told that they felt very good about this being thrown out at this level .. but they feel like the oklahoma supreme court is more of a crap shoot they would rather go there with the win ... then have to appeal there after a loss

At this rate the new district and facility won't be built for another couple 3 years I imagine. Very unfortunate because we need something new to assist with recruiting and interest in games., IMO.

They should just start it immediately with this ruling. Don’t wait for the appeal. There isn’t anything putting it on hold until all appeals are completed.
