Hield and Cousins summer observation

OU is most likely in a strength or power Macro cycle. That means they will be in the phase they add the most mass or weight.

True.

He probably won't be quite that big when they start playing games again.

Gaining 10 pounds in two weeks is a LOT. To be more precise, one would have to consume 49,000 calories MORE than they expend - in two weeks. That's a lot calories. Keep in mind that 3,500 calories = 1 pound.

What happens sometimes is these guys weigh right after playing or working out. That means their water weight in down. Then when they weigh the next time they do not and their water weight is back up.

My water weight can fluctuate a lot in a couple days.

Exactly, add now because they lose so much once basketball only (mostly) activities kick off.

I bet Ou lifts or works out 3 if not 4 times a week even during season. That might be a recovery workout but they will workout.

The main reason they are in a strength and power cycle now is it has a big affect on your body. You want to do you strength macro cycle as far from season as possible. Then usually power after that and when seasons comes the weight room becomes more maintaining and injury prevention for guys.

Basically everyone is right together here. I'm having fun learning more and more about strength and conditioning of athletes lately of you can't tell. Sorry if that came off sounding technical.

He might early but I think you are right he won't the second half of he season. Many guys lose weight throughout the wear and tear of season. Eve

The strength coach this year is going to actually make them stronger. It is a big upgrade to the program.

Yeah he is a big time guy on body weight strength and lifts. He was very impressive to hear him talk and very approachable for coaches.

As long as they are getting their shooting reps before or after an extended break from lifting, should be fine. Trying to work on the shot after lifting is usually not a good idea...shooting is all about repetition.

As for the weight gain, I'm sure Odomes is weighing himself at opportune times, haha. Can speak from experience, I used to guzzle about 32oz of water before I ever stepped on for official weight.

Static stetching really won't do a lot for that. That have to do exercises to keep the range of motion.

I am not familiar with your terminology but I am sure the OU coaches have the players doing the right things to maintain their range of motion.
