Some of Smart's hype is a carry over from his success prior to college. He is a very good player, but you have to admit he started out higher than Buddy.

It is similar to college football. It is easier for the team that starts out No. 10 in the nation to when the national title than the team that starts out unranked, even though the two teams might be similar.

That said, Smart is a better player, or at least, a more polished player. Buddy is very good, however. On a scale from one to ten, if Smart is an 8, Buddy is a 7.

I love Buddy but Smart is a much better player.

What I love about Buddy is he's learning and improving every day and he'll be at OU four years, at least I hope.

Exactly, Smart is a lottery pick as of now....Buddy is not. But if Buddy continues to improve all facets of his game, I don't see any reason that he couldn't be a 1st rounder by the end of his senior season.

Smart will be a high first round draft pick. Will he be the POY? I doubt it. For one thing, he's too inconsistent to get that award. Plus, hoops aficionados with a vote to cast have to be aware of the unnecessary theatrics he brings to the floor in every game.

Anyone who thinks that OU fans are the only ones who have noticed, need to get out more. Fans on other boards began to talk about it last year. Now, television commentators are wise to his antics, and it's only a matter of time before the officials catch on.

It's a shame, too, because Marcus is one heck of a player in his own right. He doesn't have to flop around like a fish out of water, fall over backwards and flail his arms around to draw attention to himself. Oh, he's getting the attention, alright. Just not the kind that will win him a POY award.

How about the most over-hyped draft pick of all time?

Darko Milicic.

He was picked #2 behind Lebron James and ahead of Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, and Dwayne Wade.

He was an international player and not a POY candidate but his NBA draft position was entirely based on hype.

Just bc u don't do anything in the nba doesn't mean u weren't a solid college player. All those guys were solid.

And as for bobby Hurley being a draft bust. I disagree. The accident ruined his career just like jay Williams. I would put them under a different category.
