Hasn't he been the leading scorer in both exibition games and the scrimmages? This kid is legit. Refreshing to see a guard attach the basket with CONFIDENCE and finish.

i love the confidence of the 3 frosh guards ... hornbeak was talking a lot of trash last night

Confidence is right! My wife and I sat directly behind OUHoops and his family last night. Naturally, we had a lot of things to say during the game, among them observations about the players, some good and some not so good. OUH said that Hield reminded him of Willie Warren. I agreed. He's not that good yet, but there are a lot of similarities, especially in the ability to use their strength and body inside to finish at the rim.

I commented that Hield believes he can score every time he touches the ball, whether it's from three, short range pull up jumpers or taking the ball to the hole in traffic. Buddy Hield is a player, people! He can score from anywhere.

I guess I see the comparison, in that they are both scorers, but I think Hield will be better in time. Hard to say I guess, since we didn't get to see WW as an upperclassman, but I don't think I would trade Hield for WW. JMO.

I agree, WT. I think Hield has a better shot than WW, and seems to be a better leader on the floor.

I would take freshman WW I think over what I have seen of hield but its way too early.

Hield kinda reminded me of a slighty smaller Brandon rush

Rush is not a bad comparison and one that I would settle for in a heart beat.

No one is saying that Hield is as good as WW at this point in his career, just that their games are similar in some ways.

I see him being something like Andre emmitt (I think that's his name) from Texas tech

How long will it take Hield to crack the starting lineup?

Couldn't Pledger be that?

No. You'd rather have the better shooter and someone less prone to mistakes start. Hield coming off the bench brings instant energy and quickness against a fatigued opponent.

A Vinnie Johnson type player. I like Hield in that role.

He may be by the end of the season, but I am a bit worried that starting 3 freshman guards is a recipe for sloppy play no matter how much upside they have.

I compared to Hield to Hollis after the first exhibition. Not a stretch at all, I don't think.

I think Hield is the better athlete. The question is, does he have Hollis' head. Time will tell.
