Would you take 4 years of Payton Pritchard over 1 year of Trae Young.

I think a lot of our answers are going to be different than they were if you would have asked this question a month ago.

without a doubt.

4 years of PP vs 2 years of Trae and its a little closer

No because 1 wanted to be here and 1 didn't.

You take 4 years of Payton Pritchard all day every day... I could make an argument that a 1 year rental of Trae Young set the development of the other players back a year.

That's like saying.... would you rather have 4 years of Hollis Price or 1 year of Blake Griffin? You take 4 years of Hollis, as great as Blake was, it's just a year.

The only exception to that is if the one year leads to a national championship... but in this case, 1 year of Trae Young has resulted in an athletic Hindenburg.

Absolutely. It's not close. I will take 4 years of Buddy over any 1-and-done high school player who's ever played 1 year of college basketball, including Anthony Davis. It's important to remember, however, that everyone -- including Trae's family -- considered him a 2-year player when he got here. He just far exceeded everyone's expectations.

The team would be worse this year with Pritchard than Trae, but probably much better in his 3rd and 4th years.

Obviously this is predicated on him wanting to be at OU. No college basketball is forced at gunpoint to play for a school for whom he doesn't want to play.

I think you will prove one thing with this thread. Hindsight is never 20/20.

I still don't think it's 100% that Trae leaves after this year. He has a long ways to go to be able to play in the NBA. Especially on defense. He's obviously going to play in the NBA vs. TMG but I'll say the same things about these two. They can't guard anybody in college. Do you think they are going to guard NBA point guards?

To answer your question, I'll still take Trae.

Can't and doesn't are not necessarily the same. He obviously doesn't play good defense consistently in college, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the skills to do it when he makes it a priority and when he is less worried about fouling and conserving energy in the NBA. Also, very few people enter the NBA finished products. Same as any profession. You go through growing pains and improve along the way. Some guys enter the league as poor defenders, some have bad shots, etc.

This.

I'll take Trae because it put us back in the news and on ESPN every other night. We get more attention which may give us a better shot at recruiting. PP is solid, but not a game changer.

I don’t reslly get the question. It wasn’t a choice. Pritchard didn’t want to come to OU.

Again trae wanted to be here. Pritchard did not. I will take the guy that wants to be here every time.

Wish we could have had both. But in general, 4 years of a high quality player like Pritchard is going to better than any one and done.

But we didn't tell Pritchard to go look elsewhere. He chose to de-commit and sign with Oregon. He didn't want to be here. So i will take the guy that wants to wear the Crimson and Cream.
