Hoiberg may be interested in Bulls job

Do it Fred. You know you want to. After you get fired you can always go back to college and be successful. Just ask Pitino,Calipari,Kruger...

Supposed "Handshake" deal to go to the Bulls and ISU prepping for a new coach.

Come on boys we need a title this year.

My question is I wonder of any of their recruits will ask for a release of their LOI. It's looking like a done deal. And he's EXACTLY what the bulls are looking for.

You left out 1 thing that trumps all that college coaching experience. NBA playing experience. Hoiberg played 10 years in the NBA including 4 years in Chicago. Look how many guys are NBA coaches that never coached anywhere yet were named an NBA head coach. Steve Kerr. Jason Kidd. Mark Jackson. The list goes on and on.

You're forgetting that he was an assistant coach with the Timberwolves and then later became their vice-president of basketball operations. In that regard, he's a younger Steve Kerr - same amount of NBA playing time, also front office player personnel experience EXCEPT he also has college head coaching experience. He's two-three jumps ahead of where Jason Kidd or Mark Jackson were when they were named NBA coaches.

They have one HS player and a transfer from Arkansas who will add to their roster next year. All the rest were already on the team last season. It's been reported that he told at least one HS recruit that his future with Iowa State is "uncertain".

I think it's just a matter of time.

Just reported a deal in the works for $25mil for 5 years. Iowa State will be looking for a coach.

I think the Ast will get it. Transfer king brought in half the team.

I think Hornacek's interest depends on how secure he is in his job. Phoenix is maybe the 10th best team in the West and coaches of teams who don't make the playoffs don't tend to have long tenures.

No way Hornacek leaves an NBA gig for that little job in Ames unless he's about to be fired.

Poor ISU. But hey they get what they deserve after firing McDermott right before his son exploded on the scene. Back to the cellar.

what has hornecek done to make you think he won't be a downgrade?

He's done well at PHX.

...but once again, he's not interested...unless he's grown tired of Phoenix's idiotic roster maneuvering, and is looking for a way out.

hornacek makes 2 mil a year in phx ... he would make 3.5 plus in ames ..
