I thought it was an NCAA violation for a university or coach to mention a player in the media by name if he hasn't signed a letter of intent. If my understanding is correct, then how could OU release an official press release with Kruger discussing Cole and talking about what type of player he is?

I would appreciate someone with knowledge of how this works, explain this to me. Thanks in advance. I just assume that since Kruger is an old hand and we have a compliance department, that it was proper. But, I just don't know or see how they can do it unless he has signed an LOI. Can a walk on sign an LOI, to walk on? Help.

I beleive that walk-ons sign an LOI just like scholarshop players.

the answer is that he will be on ship next season .. with the newell transfer ..

otherwise they could not have discussed cole

I'm reasonably certain that walk-ons are not permitted to sign a LOI. Assuming that is the case, Boulder's explanation fits perfectly. Cole will fill the scholarship void left by Newell.

I thought my niece signed one when she was a walk on to the volleyball team, but maybe not. On second thought, she transferred to OU after her sophomore year and I'm not sure what that situation requires.
