How far has OU fallen?

I think Sherri was Donnie Duncan hire. It was only a year after Kelvin was hired.

Makes me wonder what the heck our coaches work on in practice? If it's running plays for Thompson while Fitz works his arse off to rebound his misses, consider me unimpressed. And, yes, I plan to keep bringing it up after every game, even if Nick makes 100% of his treys from this point forward. This team does not have the luxury of allowing a 6' 8" post player to roam the perimeter and pretend to be a wing.

i'm not a coach. i don't pretend to know x's and o's. but i'd like to think i'm a pretty good judge of what a kid can offer after seeing someone play for a bit. and it just absolutely boggles my mind why cj isn't getting more minutes. because of his athleticism, he offers the most of what we need underneath. and maybe, just maybe, if he happens to jump out and guard someone on the perimeter, he won't have a guy blowing past him like nick does every game.

Football is the money making sport. Basketball hasn't been a money making factor since Tubbs left. Even when Sampson was here the program still wasn't raking in money. It's hard to make money when fans don't care enough to buy tickets, even when the team is good. Therefore this post is irrelivant, football alone will keep Joe C in office.

Mens basketball is the only sport other than football that makes money. Basketball at OU has made money for a long time, and this is important because it was always self-funded which allowed the other programs to get more money from the proceeds made by football.

Womens basketball has started to almost become self-funded if it's not already. That helps take some pressure off mens basketball, but it still needs to be able to support itself.

Joe has really screwed the pooch with the basketball program.

PS -- Donnie Duncan hired Sherri Coale. Actually, Marita Hynes, the AD for womens sports hired Sherri, but Duncan was the AD so he gets credit for it.

You guys do understand that Boren is going to leave soon. I am not saying immediately just soon. When he leaves Joe c would be wise to not have this mess on his hands

Joe C has job security for a long time. The Bob Stoops / Sherri Coale hires alone make him look like a genius.

Exactly, but his hire of Capel was a very poor decision and he needs to man up and fix it.

I think we probably have a loosing record next year as well if capel is the head coach......next year will be a good 10 team conference

You're right, whoever steps into Boren's position is going to look at a profitable athletic department, one which gives money back to the institution directly and indirectly, then decide to replace that organization's CEO.

Come on. Board of Regents would not allow that.

I am serious. This is a big issue. If Joe C screws this up he could lose his job. It is an extremely political job and OU is way, way bigger than Joe C. He made the decision to hire Capel and this is his problem to fix.

It is much more likely that Capel loses his job but if the basketball program turns to cr@p for an extended period of time, it is very possible that Joe C. could start to feel the heat.

OU was, is, and always will be a Football first school. The Board of Regents know this. Joe C is one of the best AD's in America. he will not lose his job.

Dude just stop. Joe C is not losing his job.
