How would one feel if Fran Fraschilla was the next coach

I don't like Fran has the head coach. Love him as an announcer but not to coach the Sooners.

Heard he wants the job but I don't see Joe C. going that way. He's not too old but a nine year layoff is a long time out of the business for me. I knew he had problems at NM but didn't realize it was that bad.

For me, it's either BCG or BW.

your obtuse if you think someone that hasn't been coaching for nearly a decade and whose past jobs weren't that successful could jump right back in and out coach capel.

Considering I didn't think Capel was a very good coach and his record indicated it when he didn't have the best player on the planet, I don't think it would be too tough for Fran to be more successful than Capel.

Fran has been a coach for 9 seasons and taken his teams to postseason play in 8 of those seasons. He only missed it 1 time when he took over the Johnnies which was a trainwreck when he was hired.

Capel, OTOH, took his teams to postseason play in 4 of 9 seasons as a head coach.

One could argue that Manhattan is a lesser program than VCU as VCU has consistently been a good mid-major basketball program.

I think it's obtuse of you to think Capel is automatically a better coach than Fraschilla and I don't care if Fran had been out of the game for 20 years. How many years one is out of the game doesn't mean they just forget the X's and O's of the sport.

Capel just was not a good coach. Period.

BOB strikes again.

Even after you got your wish of capel being fired, you still rag on the guy.

One more thing, the 1999 St. Johns basketball team advanced to the elite 8 and narrowly missed the Final 4 when they lost to Ohio State with Michael Redd.

On that SJU team was Ron Artest, who was recruited by Fraschilla, as well as Lavar Postell, who was also recruited by Fran.

Those are both better players than anybody recruited to OU by Capel save Griffin.

Again, I'm not arguing Fran is John Wooden, just that I think he is light years better than Capel.

I'm just calling a spade a spade.

What's funnier to me...the guy was fired yet you still think he's a great basketball coach.

never said he was great.

But I think is humerous that you think fran is better than him. Its even funnier that you think he is better than Turgeon

Yeah, I forget that Turgeon is a great coach who has been to many final 4's and won a few NC's. Can't believe I ever thought Fran would outcoach Turgeon.

How stupid of me.

Initially the idea of Fran in Norman felt cringeworthy. After some thought though there are (atleast to me) some upside in the hire that has already been touched on. I do not think Fran's recent years away from coaching absolutely has hampered his ability to coach nor do I think he is to old. Some people probably manage to do well after years off. Its possible his time away from the game has given him a fresh perspective. Perhaps not. I like Marshall and Buzz myself. Terry Evans and Fran carry maybe a bigger risk/reward factor but if JC pulled the trigger on either of those 2 (or whoever it ends up being) I could find things to be excited about.
