"But, you know, I'm going to tell you what, it's not about
what we didn't have, it's about how good they are.
They're good. They're really, really good. And Lon is
an absolutely fantastic coach. He does things that puts
people in places that are hard to guard. You look at --
we took 60 shots, they took 41. It's not supposed to be
close. He does such a great job of getting people
shots. They shoot 48%, 49%, we shoot 38%. He does
a great job. They made adjustments defensively and
we're just very fortunate."

I think we forget, as fans, what kind of coach is Lon Kruger and specifically on offense. I'm not crazy about our switching man defense but when you consider we shot the ball 19 times less than them and lost by 2 points? That's incredible.

IF my memory serves me...lol..I thought first half we didn't switch at all..which I thought was unusual. even the bigs didn't switch, hedged but recovered. 2nd half I know the guards switched up top..but tried not to switched bigs...of course this is what I thought.

I know a lot of people dont like Huggins, but I enjoy the honesty that he has in press conferences whether hes talking about his team or the opponent.

I can't stand his style of play but you can't take away what he has done. It is always interesting to hear his comments.

Heard him speak at a coaches clinic when he was at Cincinnati about 30 years ago.

Very engaging personality, he asked questions that made you rethink things you do as coaches.

Had kenyon Martin not broke his leg, he would also be a big 12 coach that's won a national championship.

We are not that well coached.
We are the poorest passing team in the top 20.
I am watching the Div 2 texas state championship and both teams are better passers than OU.
Dribbling one on one for 20 sec is not a good offense.

That's on the players. They are not taught that. All of these guys are flawed and that's what happens when you make a bad hire, then fire him and go find someone else. The new coach has to take flyers on guys who nobody else is recruiting and bring them in. The next group of guys won't play that way.

Who, exactly, are you talking about?

Appreciated your OP, Booger. Huggins is honest, and he was also right.

And Larry72's post? Not so much. Can only SMH.

In other words, please please please give WVU a high seed in the tournament. :ez-laugh:

Cousins and Hield. Hornbeak was recruited then too. Walker was signed because Hornbeak left. Now LK is getting recruits who don't have so many flaws so they will be able to overcome some of the issues we have now.

I would even say Spangler is flawed just because he's playing out of position because of depth. That's all due to the state of the program LK inherited and being able to recruit true inside guys who are good enough to allow him to play more of a true 4 position.

Luckily, Hield and Cousins worked hard enough to overcome most of their deficiencies but they are still a work in progress. Neither is great at ballhandling, Cousins can't shoot the 3 very well. It's no knock on them to say they are flawed but if LK were recruiting them today, 5 years into the program would he still recruit both of them? Probably Hield because of his potential but not Cousins. Also, if LK were recruiting Hield today or last year he wouldn't be a 4 year starter like he's been and therefore wouldn't have been able to develop his game by playing so many minutes. It's worked out for both LK and Hield (and OU) that he was able to play so much but it hasn't been the ideal situation.
