TMG, Tiny, and WW have vastly different jobs....why can't all 3 be stars?

I don't understand the reasoning where one has to be "the best player"?

The biggest reason? Kids leaving early. The "stars" don't have time to let an older teammate shine, b/c most of them are trying to get to the league as soon as possible. Even in Tiny's latest statement, he mentions point blank that he expects to be in the league after next year. That most definitely affects how a kid plays, and thinks.

That's been the problem with this team. They have to learn how to play well with the ball and without it. Warren needs to get back to driving to the hoop and drawing fouls, Gallon needs to become a better post player, and Griffin has to continue to improve his decision making when it comes to running the point. And thats all just on offense, they need an overhaul on defense, hopefully Capel lands some jucos who can shore up the def/reb side of the game.

I don't get it either. But I think it may have more to do with vastly different personalities than the jobs they to do on the court. We can only hope that a year to mature will change that if all three return.

Agree...nothing to do with their roles, it has everything to do with the individual's perception (or lack of).

Great point. I think this is also the difference between good coaches and great coaches. This is what makes Phil Jackson such a great coach. He is a master at dealing with personalities and keeping people happy with their roles even when they know they could do more in a different situation.

I think Capel is just now learning how to deal with that. Last year he had 2 McD's guys but one was so good that everyone knew it was his team. This year you add 2 more and they both are really good and probably feel they are just as good as the other and you have a much more difficult situation on your hands.

I think the basketball program is finding out what we know in football recruiting. When you sign highly rated national recruits who have a chance at the NBA, a lot of times they use the scholarship to improve their game for the next level, and not necessarily the team.

IMO, the only 2 players that sold out this past season on every play were Crocker and Davis. Crocker was a lifelong OU fan and even lived in OU for a period of time, while Davis is from Oklahoma. The other guys don't care as much because they view it as a stepping stone, hopefully Capel can find guys who do care and make the ones who don't seem to care start caring a bit.

I liken this to Malcolm Kelly, who sat out the Fiesta Bowl because he didn't want to ruin his chances of going pro. The football team has had quite a few recruits like this in recent years and only until they had the studs from in-state (McCoy, Bradford, and Gresham) did they turn it around a bit.

This team (or lack there of) should watch a bunch of KU games. KU is the definition in this league of "team play". OOHHHH and they will have 4/5 people going to the NBA off this team and not one of them is a "super-star" on the KU team. On any given night it could be Henry, Aldrich, Collins, Morris that go off and their other teammates will realize this and feed them know that their time will come. Yes they have good/great players that play as a team, but they do not seem to be selfish or me, me, me and that is why they are #1 and we are #105.
