I'm guessing Buford will get his minutes between the 3 and 4, depending if they need 3 bigs or not. I think it hurts Bennett's minutes more than Buford's. They can rest Spangler more, too.
Spangler will probably play mostly at the 4 with Thomas moving to center. Of course, this is all contingent on Thomas getting his waiver approved (I think it's 75% possible).
Assuming Thomas gets his waiver...... It's not really important who starts. It's more a question of who is in the 8-9 man rotation. Obviously Buddy, Woodard, Cousins, Spangler, and Thomas are in it. Booker and Walker will be the guards off the bench. I'm guessing Buford and Bennett will be included, too. Injuries could also be a factor.
Are we sure that Spangler is better than Thomas?
What does Thomas have going for him to get a waiver to play this next season?
Coaching change. But it's really pretty much a lottery. What does Thomas have going for him to get a waiver to play this next season?

They will apply to the NCAA for immediate eligibility because the new U of H coach is an acknowledged NCAA repeat violator, and Thomas has a moral conflict with playing for a twice-convicted cheater.
The NCAA granted 63% of the waiver requests last year for immediate eligibility. One of them was U of H transfer Joseph Young who transferred to Oregon. His waiver was granted because U of H reassigned his father to another job within the U of H athletic department that his father didn't want. "According to NCAA data from July 2012 to June 2013, 39 of the 62 undergraduate men's basketball players who applied for waivers received them."
Woodard--Heild--Cousins--Thomas--Spangler? What does this mean for Buford?

It was stated in another thread that he announced his intention to transfer before Sampson was hired. Is that not true?
