I think a big problem with our program right now is we don't have enough guys with the heart and hustle this guy played with tonight. He still shoots far too many 3s and misses them. But he played hard all night. Seemed like he got every defensive rebound we needed. He played hard on defense even though he was a mismatch against their big guys. I don't think we'll have a guy like him next year which scares me a bit because this team is tough enough to watch because they can't focus on possessions and don't finish possessions enough.

I think several other guys play with a lot of heart and hustle on this year's team. If you were talking about last year's team then yeah I agree with you.

I really don't think effort has been an issue now that the old Captain has been put on the pine.

This. Plus we should have a better inside game next year which should open up Pledger for more shots, which should more than make up for Cades shooting IMO.

This team doesn't like heart or hustle. This team plays their tails off, they're just not that good.

I credit Cade btw for the change from last year. He has done a great job leading this group.

I'm not sure this team plays possessions out like they should. I guess heart and hustle are the wrong words for it. They just don't look real fundamental at times I guess. Which could actually be worse because that comes down to the coach. They have a hard time finishing possessions like they should. It's not really what other teams do or about looking not that good. Last years team looked better at times and may still end up having a better record when all is said and done. There's a good chance that we have a much weaker schedule this year, and end up losing more games this year and having a worse overall record.

Nick, i agree with your post, for the most part, but the idea that Cade shoots too many three just doesn't hold up. It's often repeated, but the stats aren't there.

On the season, Cade's 49 of 139 from deep; Pledger's 54 of 148.

Their respective percentages from behind the arc are .353 and .365. Sorry, but that's not a big difference.

And yet, Cade repeatedly gets taken to task for shooting threes, and no one says a word about Pledger, who has shot more threes and at only a marginally better success rate, doing it.

Every season sees one player or another getting singled out. Some fans just seem to need to have someone to blame.

That Cade is the guy some have singled out this season, though (and Nick, I know that's not your point at all), is beyond puzzling.

What you are talking about more has to do with basketball IQ and just general inexperience in my opinion. I think that will be improved next year, not because the loss of Cade but because the rest of the team is back and will have a ton more experience.

I appreciate the sacrifices Cade has made for the program, he plays his heart out every second but honestly his biggest contributions should just be leadership, energy, hustle etc. Unfortunately he's been put in a situation where he has to go above and beyond his ability every night.

I'm not saying it will be addition by subtraction I just believe that with all the other players coming back and Osby becoming eligible the loss of Cade isn't going to be a mortal blow to OU winning next year.

i think his percentage would be better if he would not taken so many 3's that are leaners and contested thats just not his shot.. for instance that no pass heat check 3 after he made one before it was not a quality shot and killed our momentum.. i think cade is forcing some 3's as of lately.. but when he catches it in motion and his wide open he makes them significantly more often

Scrubs are scrubs.

We will be better when we have better players.

boca your a good poster but your being a retard.. 1 inch is the difference between you praising cade right now.. he played well and is a good player.. look at the team.. no height, little experience, no star. hes trying, so back down

The players seeing the court aren't scrubs, they're just young. They'll be better next year with experience and maturity.

I'm not sure if next years team will be much bigger. We won't have anyone over 6-9. And we lose our biggest guard. Not saying we'll be worse next year.

I think the schedule will probably be tougher. The conference should be better, and we won't have to play Nebraska and Colorado who are the 2 worst programs in the conference. We do get 2 games against Iowa State.

We had one of the easiest home schedules I can remember this year and we will still have trouble getting to 13 wins. I doubt we have the same luxury next year.

We should be better next year based on experience. We need to win over 20 games if Capel expect to be here any longer than next year. I'm not sure we will have the players and coaching to do that next year.

I want to be careful how I word this, because I love Cade, he's 100% Sooner, which, given the atmosphere of college hoops today can be hard to find.

He's drawn such a tough role this year. He's been made a go-to-guy, which we all know he isn't, and it makes him look bad. Every game he shoots a few contested pull-up jumper's or fade away three's that are completely forced and bad shots.

I'm to the point now I don't even get upset, I just shake my head, because I know he wants to help us win more than any guy on our team.

Regardless if he scores another point all year I'll always love that guy. Like I said, he bleeds crimson and always will. It'll be tough not to shed some tears on Senior Day.

Shooting .333 from 3 point range is equal to shooting .500 from 2 point range. If a player is shooting better than that, he should keep shooting. There's a coach at Dook who uses that philosophy.

it seems to me there is a disconnect between Cade and some of the other memebers on the team. There have been times when Cade was open at least for a pass, and they chose to move the ball the other way. Also there were times when Cade was bringing it up looking like he was going to start the offence when the point guard yelled for the ball and moved Cade away. maybe nothing I don't know.
Cade Davis has been through hell with the OU basketball program. He deserves all the accolades he gets just for enduring. No one imagined it would be this bad when he signed up.
I'm glad he shoots so many threes, certainly wishe more would drop, but someone has to shoot. There are times when no one else can get free, or will take the shot. At least CD does.

The last possession proves this point. He was the only guy that could get off a shot. Wish his right foot would've been an inch or two further back, but at least he was able to get a decent shot off. The way that possession was going, I figured we would get a partially blocked Pledger 3 that landed in the middle of the lane.

If the guys are scrubs this year, I don't see much of a change next year because we will only add about 2 or 3 guys and maybe 1 or 2 will really play. We still don't know at this point.

Cade leaving opens a spot for a talented, athletic player that Cade is not. It'll probably be addition by subtraction.
