I would take a chance

and hire Fran Fraschilla, we have nothing to lose.

I'd rather rehire Capel than hire Fran once, which would be one of the more ridiculous college signings in history. I really can't stand the guy on TV. Just my 2 cents.

uhm...sure we do...
1. games
2. players
3. even more fans
4. any shred of dignity that still existed

i can go on actually...

much rather have him that the last name i heard, steve robinson

I'm not endorsing that hire but I see a lot of upside to it. Assuming he has a good budget for assistants, he could offer the very best . He may also have gained a new perspective for running a program.

I saw Fran on a coaching analysis show for the final four. They were breaking down dending Kentucky. The show listed his record at 3 NCAA appearances in 23 seasons. I am not remotely interested in a guy that makes the NCAA just over once every 10 years.

Fran would be a terrible hire. I realize I (and campbest) are a broken record on this, but this idea won't go away.

To recap: Fran had a successful 5-year run at Manhattan, recruiting inner-city New York kids and playing in a conference made up of a bunch of tri-state private schools. He then went to St. Johns, where he had one winning season and one losing season and was fired after two years. Then he went to New Mexico, who had gone to the NCAA tournament 7 of the previous 9 years, and ran that program into the ground. He was fired after three years. Players quit on him during games (literally. not like, they stopped playing hard quit. actually quit).

He has not coached a game or recruited a player in a decade. He has not had any sort of basketball success as a coach in 15 years.

He would be a horrible pick.

I agree. It would be a huge mistake. The guy just wasn't a good coach and that is why he calls games now. He knows basketball and seems like a reasonable guy but he just couldn't get it done when given a chance. I would much rather see Terry Evans than Fran.

Plus his name is Fran. Don't you have to go by Psycho and threaten to kill people if they call you by Francis? (Some of you younger people might not get that but I think the people my age will)

Lets get Paul Westhead people. He satisfies all criteria. coached good teams. has nice hair.
plays great defense (ok maybe no defense but . .) has a great run and gun offense, is currently coaching a womens d1 team and is only 72 yrs young.
