I agree ....but a coach can not pick asst coaches just on "feeling comfortable with them"
Bob Stoops looked at recruiting in this area...He kept Cale Gundy and went to UT's staff in Austin, Tx and hired Bobby Jack Wright. Stoops said the first time he met BJW was when he hired him but he knew the Texas area.

Not even remotely close. BJW was going to take the Wichita Falls High School AD and football head coach job. He had been out of work a year.

Not sure I'd want a guy on my staff that openly campaigned for the job I just got.

Nothing against Evans and I doubt he'd be any kind of "problem", but that might be a little uncomfy for Kruger.

If Lon's current number 1 assistant doesn't come Evans will have a shot but doubt he would be smart to do so. He loves OU and that may be enough to get 150k and live in Norman. He is a good friend of mine and I know his entire family and would relish it.

A NewsOk article has popped up saying that Terry ran into Lon in Houston and discussed with him about being his assistant. I can't post the article because I am typing this on my Blackberry. It has quotes from Terry and he thinks Lon is a fantastic hire. He even mentioned that he played for Lon on one of the Olymic Festival teams so they do know eachother.

I hope Terry Evans gets the Lamar job, turns that program around, and comes to OU when Lon is ready to retire.

I like looking at it from a long view, but I somewhat hate to not have him on the staff now to add what I think he can add. But, I guess it is prudent to take the long view if we feel he will be head man here some day.

The aggies did it when Lies Miles was hired and Gumby was forced on him.
