If OSU player was suspected of Mass Murder?

He would be the bpu press release "well you knw hes a good kid, he just got caught up in an unfortuante sitiuation. He support him and will still let him practice and play with the team because its just murder people"

p.s. yes 40 cal im stealing bpu from you, deal with it :D

"Think of ALL the people he didn't murder. Are you alive? Well see, he's not totally evil. He didn't murder you! He only murdered people who were willing to be murdered. Maybe one of out ten he came in contact with. That's not a high percentage. It not like he was Edi Amin... or even Ted Bundy. Only ONE out of ten, folks! And most of them were out of work, from small towns. It's not like he murdered productive citizens. A lot of his victims were drop-outs and widows. Even a few illegal aliens!"

Putting the best possible spin on it.

It is still an allegation until there is a hearing and a conviction. I recognize the situations are different but I would contend the main difference is the severity of the allegations. OSU and Ford made a decision to let the kid play and got a black on eye on this one.

Also, what happens if no charges were pressed? And they suspended him for nothing? Can you imagine the recruiting/media backlash? Ford suspends players because of accusations?

It was damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I don't know that any coach should immediately react to an anonymous letter written to the school newspaper. I know I wouldn't.

They were probably asking for it, you know how people dress these days. It's like Their just asking to be murdered. You really can't blame the kid.:D

Thank you, that's all that needs to be said.

I disagree with this. One was caught and cited at the 'scene', so he was essentially found guilty of it right then. As for Williams it was nothing but allegations, which were being investigated. When he was formally charged then you take action.

Don't see how you can penalize a player for being accused of something. You start sliding down a pretty slippery slope if you start following that way of doing things.

I would expect nothing less from an Aggie but the fact of the matter is you are not essentially found guilty when a ticket is issues or charges are filed.

A coach may penalize a player for making bad grades, skipping class or not working hard enough in practice. Ford clearly had the discretion to sit the kid and decided to play him.

Cited for shoplifting, caught in the act with the merchandise.

Anonymous note of allegations, DA had previously turned back investigators to gather more information b/c case wasn't worthy.

Once Ford knows that charges will be filed or that it is very likely, then yeah, I have problem with Williams playing. However, we don't know when that was so there is no reason to speculate.

Actually, there was an allegation, eyewitness testimony and an investigation. All of this was known a long time ago. The annonymous note started the investigation but even your own comments state the police believed there was enough evidence to press charges quite some time ago. The DA merely decided to wait, probably to further investigate but I have seen nothing to suggest new evidence was or was not discovered.

Why? You don't think it's possible they knew Saturday the charges were coming down in the very near future? I'm not saying they did, but you can't tell me they didn't, either.

It's worth speculating.

If we're talking about late last week that charges were imminent, then yes suspend him.

An allegation was made in December, can't hold out someone that long over an allegation.

I think they did. But, just as the person who says they didn't, it's impossible to prove.

But a coach SHOULD not suspend someone for allegations. It's ridiculous to think otherwise.

Also, really liked this post.

You have lost your mind. What parent is going to say to Caoch Ford that they are cool with OSU promising a scholarship and revoking it so they will just start writing checks to an institution that lied to them and their child. It is not going to happen.

Woops!
