would you not be busting your hump right now to show this coaching staff that you can put in the effort needed to play defense at this level? Would you not be spending extra times learning how to rotate to cut off the baseline? Would you not be diving on the floor in practice, taking charges, never allowing "easy buckets" by fouling a guy hard enough that he can't score?

I would.

Nick Thompson will never be a star D1 player. He probably wouldn't be a star NAIA player. But he only has a year and a few games to try and make his niche on this basketball program. The kid has a contagious attitude and a lot of fire which led to him being named captain by his teammates over the summer. He has a nice looking shot and at times can make some really nice passes. I for one would like to see him decide that he is willing to put the work in on the defensive side to see the floor.

Thoughts?

I know absolutely nothing about the inner workings of this OU team, but I have to wonder if Nick is just biding his time until the end of the season to transfer somewhere else? We've played 6 or 7 games now and he hasn't seen the court for 1 second, which is very strange considering how much he played prior to this stretch.

To his credit I saw him supporting the team from the bench and being "apart of the huddles" during timeouts. I think some people were saying he wasn't looking happy during the ISU game so its good to see that he has gotten past that.

If I were Nick Thompson, I would transfer to a school that allowed me the opportunity to play meaningful minutes..

Maybe so. I just find it odd that the guy wouldn't put the effort in neccessary during games to be even a mediocre defender. And i'm not buying the whole he's not talented enough excuse. The guy WOULD not rotate, would not get his hands up to contest shots, and wouldn't even attempt to hit the glass. It has nothing to do with talent.

And good luck to him finding a place where he can do things I mentioned above and see meaningful minutes. Terry Evans wouldn't want him in his current state....

He's done. I'd be surprised if he scored 10 points in the rest of his OU career. As long as he keeps his grades up and doesn't violate team policy I'm fine with keeping him on scholarship for the last year and change...but let's face that facts, if he can't even get one second of playing time on this year's team, he's done. Especially when we have 2 bigs coming in next year.

I'd work my butt off...support my teammates and thank God he blessed me with an opportunity to play for the University of Oklahoma...
