1. I like the guy.
2. I don't think he's a bad coach. I think he was in over his head after some recruits put us in a perilous spot.
3. With more experience I figure he'll be a very good coach. He just wasn't a good fit for OU at this time.
4. I wish him the best.

I'm with you, coolm. I think it's the right move, but I certainly wish Coach Capel well.

Agree, with your post coolm. I don't wish anything bad for him but I just don't think he was the right fit at OU.

i wanted JC to stay, but we need to support the new guys coming in regardless!

Pretty much. I'm 100 percent confident he'll land on his feet and use his five years as coach here as a learning experience.

Totally agree with ya. Great post. I think he will eventually get a program to the top. But just wasn;t the case here. Like someone else said, wrong place wrong time.

Yep, I don't see Jeff as some saw Kelvin 5 years ago after he left. Some people on OUInsider basically hated Jeff Capel. I like the guy I think he gave his best at OU, Just didn't work out. Good luck to him in his future.

I completely agree.

Jeff will sit out of the game for a year on $2,000,000.00; or even more likely will land as a top assistant at a high major program. He'll be fine and I will root for him so long as he is not playing us.

I completely agree.

MPS:

Here is where I think that this board is better than most, we both wanted Capel to get another year BUT are going to support the program either way. Other than a couple of posters, nobody has dogged a guy that just got fired just two years out from an elite eight appearance.

Very classy post coolm, keep em coming.

I don't see how anyone could HATE him. That's just ridiculous. He's a good guy and he certainly knows basketball.

In this case his style couldn't prevail over the competition we hafta face in our league without a consistent infusion of top-level talent.

He didn't have the experience to make the necessary adjustments. No biggie. He's a relatively young coach and still learning. It just cost us and him dearly when those recruits crapped out on us.

I meant Kelvin Sampson when he left. I don't think anyone hated Jeff Capel 5 years ago just like they don't right now. Maybe jerry or SID who are just crazy.
