I find myself wondering if the only consistent characteristic of the OU women's program over the last 19 years has been its inconsistency. Whether we look at the difference between the first and second halves of the Stanford game, or the losing and winning runs this season, or the win every other game of the two previous seasons, or the good runs and the not so good runs in the NCAA tournament, we see that the program most often shows promise that it soon disappoints.

If this is correct, then I find myself wondering why it has so consistently been the case, and what reason there is to suppose that a program that has been consistently inconsistent will become a program that consistently wins.

Any thoughts?

Someone should study that as it relates to other teams. I wonder if it is more common than we think.

For us I'm sure part of it is the reliance on 3 point shooting to too great an extent. That part of our game was marvelous in round 1, but totally disappeared in round 2. It cost us the game.

From my perspective, any team that relies on jump shooting will have both hot and cold spells on offense. Young players (and teams) too often let shooting woes spread to other parts of their game, causing inconsistent play to be losing play. That happens to all teams to some extent. Experienced players, team leaders, or having CP3 inside are ways to avoid or lessen that inconsistency.
