Info on the new Big 12 Tournament format

The bottom 4 play each other to advance. Who do the winners of those 2 games play? The 1st & 2nd seeds?

Blows.

Bottom two teams stay home. 1/8, 4/5, 2/7, 3/6 on opening day, just how it used to be and could be again.

I know why they do it, because those boring opening round games will be "sell-outs", but it dilutes the overall product, in my opinion.

Agreed.

Double agree.

For all the purist. In addition to being excluded from the tournament, how about locking them up in stocks in the public square for three days. And then pop them for five football scholarships. But, the reality is that it is just as likely as not that the bottom two spots woud be decided by some sort of tie breaker formula. While tie breakers are fine for seeding purposes, it would be silly to exclude a team for the conference tournament based on some tie breaker when they could just go play a game.

Every team should have a chance to extend their season with a win.
