OU picked 9th in Big 12 Coaches Preseason Poll

That would be awesome, but I don't know... The big 12 is good in roundball, and we're still down. If Kruger gets us in the top half that might be good enough for a dance invite.

That would probably make him coach of the year.

I genuinely hope Denver is right...but I dont see it. IMO it's ludicrous to rest an evaluation of someones' talent on their "top one-hundredness" - because those evaluations are made on a virtual smorgasbord of factors including their parents, their maturity, their grades, their attitude, their work ethic etc... . Can you say "Angelo Hamilton"?

I hope we have the talent. But I have yet to see it.

Very solid post, coolm.

I think if we win around 17 or 18 games that's a great year with this team. I think disappointing would be 18 losses or more. If we win more than 18 games then Coach Kruger will be up for conference coach of the year. Right around .500 is a good year for this team.

This is accurate and what will happen.

Looking back on it, getting picked to finish tied with the garbage Tech is throwing out there was an insult.

I still say that if we finish in the top half of the Big 12 we get a dance invite and Kruger gets coach of the year.

But looking at the conference, I don't know if we can make that...

It's not a talent issue if we "can't", IMO, it'll be a depth problem. We were thin with Newell, now we are scary thin. Still think the guys tire out later in the conference season, but I will enjoy the ride until we do.

I agree. Pledger has to play 35+. Really several guys have to play big minutes. I fear they wear out too. So far this season reminds me a lot of Sampson's first season at OU in that OU vastly exceeded expectations that year.

The thing that really helps us is how good our defense has been. Everyone on our team plays solid defense. Even the backup posts come in and play solid defense. The depth we have on defense is the key for the team this year. But our depth in scoring hurts us because it'll still be tough to defend against Baylor, Missouri, Kansas etc.
