I've seen his videos and have been impressed. Just read the update on him on ouinsider and love his attitude.

How important of a get is he? Would his addition, along with Goff and Osby and everyone else we have back, boost this team back into the NCAA Tournament next year?

I really like Guerrero, but it's an NIT team at best next year with him. There are just too many major holes in the games of the returning players who would still have major roles next year for this to be a tournament team.

"Program changing?" no he is not but is the type of recruit that needs to be had to start turning this thing around.

There is maybe only 6 or 7 program changers in each class and we are not in on any of them.

BUT, cezar along with a strong shooter could def changes things....or cezar with a scoring big man

He will be able to get OU into their offense instead of OU having to struggle until about 10 seconds left to get a shot. I can't say for sure how he will affect the W/L total.

I disagree. The progression that Fitz and Pledger has made from year 1 to year 2 allows me to believe that there is no reason not to expect holes to be field in 9 returning players games.

Depends on what you mean by program changer? If we were recruiting him for last year's team that still had three McDonald's All-Americans on the roster, I would say there is no way he would have been a "program changer." That is, if I didn't have the advantage of hindsight. But OU is not at that level anymore. We're in a rebuilding year, at best, and we're trying to do it with a bunch of players who wouldn't have sniffed the court on the team we had two years ago.

Thus, bringing in a player with Guerrero's ability to score and run the offense, could help us recruit better talent in 2012 and complete the rebuilding process faster than expected. So, in that sense, I think he could easily be viewed as a program changer. Either way, I would love to see this kid come to OU!

It is important, as it could help the Sooners get to 6 or 7 conference wins next season, when there will be 18 conference games.

Simple answer....... no. A program changing recruit is what Colorado has in Burks like what OU had in Blake but it ended up changing OU in a bad way.

5 8 PG's (yes i know he's listed at 5 11) aren't really program changers. We can call him Mr. Guerrero though if it makes it sound better (Mr. Jennings was awesome).

How in the world did having Blake change us in a bad way???

Because we have to rebuild...I would want us to have to rebuild every 2 years if we had teams that took us to the elite 8 where we lost to the NC team. And the only reason that team wasn't a final 4 or a championship game team is b/c it ran into the NC in the elite 8.

I was referring to the type of players Jeff was going after once Blake left the program and it ended up biting Capel in the a** and look at where this program is today because of it.

The type of kids you are referring to? McD's AA, pretty good freshman seasons. If you want him to just recruit avg players then winning a NC or getting to the final four isnt your goal...

I agree. You have to recruit players like that, but you also have to be able to manage them. That is where Capel failed miserably. While TMG and Tiny are worthy of criticism for some of their actions, Capel is also deserving of criticism. As a coach you are basically the "CEO" and are responsible for "managing" your talent.

The fact is that TMG and Tiny could have been STUDS at the college level. Unfortunately for everyone involved it didn't work out.

The 2002 OU team had no McD's and they went to the FF and would have won the whole thing if it wasn't for the injuries.

I think we had a good shot at winning it all that year, but it is very, VERY rare for a team with little to no NBA level talent to win the national title. Such teams can make the final 4, but very rarely do they win it all. If you look at the last 10 or 15 national title teams, I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of them all had numerous NBA players on their rosters.
