Is Kur a legitimate starter next year?

Would be great if he was a starter. I’m gonna assume it means he can handle 25+ minutes a game and be productive. I see the comparison between him and Lattin but I feel Kur has much more upside.

Time will tell though.

I don't think you can be a good team in the Big 12 with Kuath getting 25 minutes a night.

1.) One must remember that Kur plays behind 2 all league players, so we don't know what he would be like in that context.

2.) He improved dramatically from redshirt year to now, and with his abilities I would expect another jump heading into his senior year.

We all expected a jump from Lattin and McNeace as well. We will see...

In other words, I'm not counting on it, but I hope he does.

IMO Garang is a wing not a stretch 4. Someone needs to be able to contribute thats larger than Iwuakor even when Kur improves. I expect him to improve but still not be the starter 25 minute guy you need on a really good team.

I think Kur could and should start now, much less next year. Big guys just don't develop unless you play them. Of course, you don't have to start him, you can just sub him in for his minutes. Lon is taking this course. I would like to see Kur's minutes upped though.

If Kur continues to improve he has a chance to play a bigger role this season as well as the next. I like the energy he brings to the floor, and I’m encouraged by the progress he’s made so far. While it’s true we expected a jump from Lattin and McNeace, I don’t recall a time at any point of their career when they demonstrated Kur’s work ethic. High motor is not a term I would use for either player. That’s especially true of McNeace.

I would like to see Kur get more playing time.

Yep, at the very least he could use the experience. There's nothing that can truly simulate in-game action.

Are you suggesting a frontcourt of Doolittle, Manek, and Kur? Have they been on the floor at the same time at any point in the season?

I kinda like the idea of Kur being wide open around the rim because Manek and Doo suck up so much attention.

I don’t believe Kur is ready to start right now. I think bringing him in with Manek OR Doo would be better. That would allow both starters a chance to rest, without making a sacrifice on offense when they’re on the bench together.

Lon likes to bring Victor and Hill in with Kur. They’re high energy players and I actually like that combination defensively. Unfortunately, our offense usually suffers when they’re on the floor. I also think that will change in time.

Next year..,

Aren’t we only getting 1 kid... the 6’ shooter/guard?

Unless someone transfers...

I think there’s an open scholarship

I think you’re right. By my count we have 12 scholarship players on our current roster. Trey Phipps will occupy the 13th ship next season. Doolittle’s departure as our only senior means we can sign one more player in the 2020 class, even if no one transfers.

Yep we still have the scholarship we offers to Bryce Thompson to give out

We have the one open scholarship that everyone has mentioned, plus I believe there will be 1 more available.

I would expect OU to sign 2 more.

Meaning you think someone will transfer I assume?

That’s not a certainty but it wouldn’t surprise me either.

CoachTalk indicated that, and it wouldnt surprise me. I am thinking Merritt.
