Is the NCAA Smothering the Fun out of March Madness?

I went to charge my phone tonight at the charging station and was informed that the NCAA told the arena that they could not have the stations out today because they have Thunder logos and not NCAA logos printed on them. So stupid.

Would have loved a cold beer during the game yesterday.

Yeah pretty stupid. Really surprised there was no beer

Was all set to go to the game, then found out about this doozy and watched from the comfort of my couch. Will still go to the VCU game Sunday, but no thanks on a 2-15 with no beer.

I'm surprised they didn't make the Thunder take down all their banners.

i thought the basketball tournament was more fun before it was called March Madness (tm) and became a huge marketing event and conceptual cliche of protecting top seeds and name teams (KU, UNC/Duke, etc) for ratings while at the same time pumping up "Cinderellas".

toss the jump, let's play basketball. all i need.

The black tarp everywhere was bush league....

Went to the Brooklyn sessions yesterday. There was a piece of black duct tape over what I presume is the Barclays logo on the side of every seat at the end of every row. Had to have been a laborious exercise.

Was pretty bummed about the lack of beer until the Michigan fans arrived. Then it made sense.

Gosh folks. I had a lot of fun at the game yesterday. I had fun watching two college basketball games inside the arena which contained a great crowd. And the Sooners won. After seeing some half empty arenas around the country on TV, I was proud of the fan support by OKC area fans. The arena was packed to the rafters. Then afterwards, Bricktown was packed. I had to stand inside Tapwerks to enjoy my favorite German beer. No place to sit. It was a wonderful day!

There are lots of reasons to complain about the NCAA. Prohibiting electric guitars and requiring NCAA cups are pretty far down the list.

I agree they aren't the most important. These days everything seems to have a logo on it so I can somewhat understand them wanting the cups to be NCAA cups. But disallowing the electric guitars doesn't seem to have much logic behind it.

And none of these things really diminished the enjoyment of the game for me. They just illustrate how the NCAA likes to micro-manage.

One thing can be said about OU fans. The loudest ones drink...and if you take away the chance at alcohol during games...they aren't happy. Would be an insane crowd with alcohol. Lol
