Is this Lon's last stop?

I'm glad we're upgrading LNC. I think he'll want to stay as long as the university doesn't put basketball on the back burner. I think as others have mentioned that at his age and with his career, pure money is probably not his priority. I think he wants to succeed. I think he wants to build a coaching tree with guys like Henson and I just think he enjoys coaching in college.

In my mind, the NBA isn't a threat (though if he were offered that Thunder squad he might take it, who wouldn't?). I doubt he is a hot commodity in the NBA and I think he probably prefers college.

He looks great but he had bypass surgery while coaching in Vegas. He does still have a house in Vegas and his daughter lives there. He won't retire to Norman when his coaching days are over IMO.
He seems to enjoy OU but don't think for a second our compliance staff isn't a big pain in the rear. There are other things that are a headache at OU.

I believe it is unlikely he would take another college job but I have no reason to think this. I also believe he would go to the pros in a heart beat if a job was given to him.

He was only three years younger when he came here. Why did he leave UNLV if not for money? Has much changed in three years?

He didn't turn the money down. But, that isn't why he came. He came because OU with the huge basketball budget gives him the chance to build the best he is capable of and to compete at the highest level.

UNLV at the time was facing a period of shrinking athletic budgets.

I would be curious to know WHY he left each place he was at, including his alma mater. His track record is obviously one of being nomadic. With that said, OU has the type of basketball budget which allows the right coach a chance to cut down the nets. The money is great and the pressure is minimal compared to the traditional powers. The only disadvantage is a substandard fan base, but he had to know that going in. That is why I predict this will be his last job.

Coach Kruger will be going straight back to Vegas as soon as he no longer coaches OU. That's cool though. I can understand why he likes it so much.

if I make the money over my lifetime he has, I will probably end up there too

Kruger has been amazing and I will wish him well whatever he decides for his future. I think it is VERY safe to say that coach Kruger will leave the program in better shape then it was in when he took the reigns. For that I say THANK YOU!

UNLV is also in a Mickey Mouse conference.

And as someone who has had bypass surgery, unless his heart was damaged, it shouldn't have any effect on his ability to coach.
