After going scoreless in Stillwater on an 0-for-8 shooting game, Isaiah Cousins has made a nice recovery.

Over the last 5 games (Kansas State, @KU, Texas, WVU, @TCU), Isaiah Cousins has:

  • Averaged 14.8 points per game.
  • Made 53% of his FG attempts (25 of 47).
  • Made 56% of his 3-Point attempts (9 of 16).
  • Made 15 of 17 free throw attempts (.882).
  • Dished out 15 assists while making 5 turnovers.

Many freshman players “hit the wall” late in the season. As a sophomore, Isaiah seems to be hitting his stride towards the end of a long season. To paraphrase Lon Kruger from his latest coaches show on TV, he said that Isaiah still had room to grow; still had talents to develop; still had a higher ceiling.

Starting to love the little nuances of his game. That quick pull-up jumper with a defender in his face, and also when he dribbles/tightropes the baseline under the goal and finds a guy open on the wing.

His ball handling ability has been so good. He can beat his man off the dribble, is a really good passer, he can hit open shots and create his own shot in the mid-range. The best part is that it looks like he can still get better at those things. He is already a good all around guard. I think he is close to having a great all around guard.
