Jacob Hammond decommits

I'm not heart broken. Sam I'm sure you know more...

So, is this really a loss or is Lon in on better guys and told him to look around? I always wondered if he was OU level. I had no reason to believe he wasn't but he didn't look that great on film... So, now we have 3 for 2014?

He said on his twitter-
@J_ham_24: Opening my recruitment back up. Just want to make sure im making the right decision. Nothin against OU...

Scoop has a free story. Not much info.

Coach,

Do you not like his game or are there some other issues at play.

It's probably a personal preference more to me. From what I have seen he is a decent big, fairly physical but very limited offensively. To me he never fit the athletic, likes to fly around, score the ball.

Not a big star guy, but is a 3 star and close to a 6'10-11. I don't have any inside info but its odd. Lon offered early and he accepted and out of the blue he has a change of heart, he isn't at sunrise anymore....

Something doesn't add up...

Lon is on better guys! After we made the NCAA tourney players seen we were back to where we were from mid 80s tell 2009! Also i bet players wanna be on Buddys Hornbeaks team!

Lon is on better guys!

I doubt that is the case with the 2014 class. If we were talking guards, maybe I'd agree. But I don't see two better bigs than Hammond coming in that class.

Be interesting to see what comes of this. I definitely think there is more to the story.

Im happy he decommitted! Now we can find a 4 star! that would be an awesome add to are should be 2015 and 2016 GREAT years!

We could have kept him, AND landed a 4* big. Didn't have to be an either/or.

Nope, it's three.

The following will all be on scholarship:

Woodard
Hornbeak
Hield
Bennett
Spangler
Cousins
Booker
Avila
Hamilton
Cole

That is 10. 13 is the scholarship limit.

That is correct. Thanks

I didn't think of the other scholarships we had! Don't get me wrong he is a good player but i also want to add a better guy but it would still good to have him on the team since we do have enough room! sorry i was not thinking clearly! sorry!

I didn't know he wasn't at sunrise anymore. It certainly appears there's more to the story. So, I wonder what happens now. I'm not sure we're in on any other quality bigs.

So is this a decommit where he says he considers the sooners still and we never hear from him again,

or is he truely decommiting to see what other schools may have interest but may still end up at OU?

Hearing it was a mutal. OU is after a Big in Colorado. Close to a 7ft. More upside. Not bullet proof info, but very solid...!

The case of a player decommitting and then re-committing is incredibly rare. I've followed about 9 years of Sooner hoops and football recruiting now, and the only time I can remember it happening is Ryan Broyles, who went OU-OSU-OU in the span of about 3 days. And he was a Norman kid, so the likelihood of him ending up in Norman was enormous from the get go.
