I've been critical of Jamuni, even talked about processing him. I was wrong, he is not only worth a scholarship but I think he will be a very good upperclassmen.

PG: Trae Young
SG: Kameron McGusty
SF: Rashard Odomes (second coming of Nolan Johnson, only bigger and a better athlete)
PF: Kristian Doolittle
C: Jamuni McNease

I like how the future looks for this team... I think the entire season next year really hinges on McNease and Odomes, because I'm pretty sure we have our "3 good players" in Young, McGusty, and Doolittle... If Odomes shoots better from the foul line and gets better on his jumper, he will be one of the toughest guys in the league.

you wanna go ahead and add mcneace? You wanted to process him too

:ez-roll:

He has really improved and shows a nice back to the basket game that we need. I've often wondered if he can make a big jump from his soph to junior year like Stacey King did. Stacey's frsh and soph numbers were average...then he exploded his junior year!

They are about the same height...although Jamuni probably still needs to add 15-20 lbs.
I would like to see us play both jamuni and Lattin together at times for rebounding and shot blocking. They are both rim protectors and could be formidable...especially against teams with PG's who like to drive the ball.

Doolittle needs to learn better shot selection.

And Lattin will start next season, right or wrong. And I'm actually fine with that, he is probably the better defender. Let McNease give us post scoring off the bench. Balance is key here. We have to find a way to get guys to play a specific role, and who we start may be the easiest way to do that. Let James, Buford, and McNease be the offense off the bench. Let Shepherd and whomever be more role players. For the starters, let Young and McGusty lead the scoring, and hopefully Doolittle, Odomes, and Lattin will take a bit of a back seat. Still have too many guys looking for too many shots this year, IMO.

In Houston's game against Tulsa a week or so back, two Houston guards accounted for 45 of the teams 65 attempted field goals. Gotta get your best scorers taking the majority of the shots.

Lattin will need a good offseason to keep his starting job over Jamuni. Mcnease seems to be developing faster, and is a better athlete.

Agree with you on who should be doing the shooting... McGusty, Young, and Doolittle need to be taking the shots next year, along with some clearouts and stuff for Odomes.

McNease has been really good but we still lack any other really good post players. Lattin's really just been the same as he was about 2 years ago. Really disappointed in his lack of growth. Seems like Buford and Doolittle are more small forwards or wing type players than real posts.

I'll eat some crow on Odomes. I've been one of the people saying he should be a bench player. Now, he did just go off like he never has, he has to be consistent. But he has had some good games. The only reason I was wanting him to be a role player early on is because he showed nothing outside of 5 feet the first half of the season, and against larger athletic teams was getting his shots thrown. Well, now that he's showing some range, Katy bar the door. If he continues to expand that range and can hit not only 15 footers but mix in some 3s, with his D and athleticism he can be an incredible weapon. Ada has been saying he can do it but quite frankly I rolled my eyes because I felt that the coaches had screwed up not only his form, but his confidence. I had seen him make a beautiful 3 in the McNeese game last year but that was with the hitch and I was willing to live with it. Well, it looks like the work is paying off. It'd be nice to see him hit about 10 more threes before the season ends to cement his confidence.
