Jelon is transferring

I like Je'lon and wish him nothing but the best. Too bad things didn't work out so that he could remain a Sooner.

I like Hornbeak and think he is a good player. I wish him the best. I told someone today that if I were a basketball coach I would listen to that transfer talk for about 5 minutes. I would try to resolve the issue. But then, if I heard it again, I would move the player on down the road.

Dragging this out for 2/3 weeks might have cost Kruger a player than he needs and could have gotten.

I wish him the best.

I would love to know the "real" reason he decided to do this. If it's just about being a starter and minutes I think he will end up regretting this decision.

If that is the real reason then why would he regret the decision? He's going to transfer somewhere where he gets exactly that reason.

Will he? He is going to have to sit out a year then probably play on a team that isn't as good. All for what 6-8 minutes more a game? I think if he stayed he and Woodard would have basically shared the PG minutes. They basically did this late in the year. I think JW & Beak compliment each other quite nicely.

That's why. He was pissed Jordan was starting.

Finally healthy again and could have come into the fall much improved. We could have used him. Sorry to see him leave.

nikebasketball was all over it. how many people owe him an apology for the false accusations?

He lied about who he was on this board and got temp banned. He was right on this one though.

Sad to see 'beak go. Best of luck to him.

Wish him the best and hope he finds whatever he is looking for.

But I'm going Bob Stoops on this one, we will find someone else to replace his 5 points and 2 assists a game. Not sure what his expectations are, but he shot less than 20% from 3 this season. Never got into a groove offensively this season. He became a steady ball handler and defender by the end of the season.

I'm sorry to lose Jelon and I wish him well...

But Guerin Emig wrote the following, and if it's true as he tells it, I'm a little pissed, too. I'm tired of these guys blindsiding Coach Kruger and their teammates (and to a lesser extent, the fans).

Hornbeak had been frustrated much of the year. It began with OU clearing room for freshman point guard Jordan Woodard by shifting Isaiah Cousins, last year's part-time point guard, to the wing. As Woodard and Cousins both thrived, Hornbeak, who had been a starting wing in 2012-13, was left to help where he could off the bench.

Although that and other setbacks bothered him, Hornbeak appeared willing to stick it out in Norman. Sources close to the program indicate that when he sat down with Kruger for a one-on-one at the end of the season, he affirmed his commitment to the program.

That didn't change outwardly in the days that followed. Sources say Hornbeak worked out with the rest of the team as recently as last Friday.

Thus Kruger was both surprised and disappointed when Hornbeak broke the news he was transferring Tuesday morning. It's not as if the coach had lined up Plan B just in case. Now, he and his staff must scramble to add a replacement guard during the late signing period which begins Wednesday.
