You guys crack me up. Had Lon recruited this kid out of high school, based on his rivals profile, some of you would have lit the world on fire about how terrible of a recruiter lon is. Now all of a sudden after he had a couple solid seasons at Georgetown he is this can’t miss recruit that lon is terrible for not being able to reel into Oklahoma.

Some guys posting that he would probably end up at Duke or North Carolina or KU or any other blue blood. He ends up at Texas Tech and some of you are losing your minds because he’s so talented.

Look at his rivals profile and the schools that are listed that he was being recruited by at the time he was in high school and tell me how many of you would’ve been thrilled that he signed with Oklahoma? Yes I know he has had two good years at Georgetown and no I don’t get hung up on the recruiting stars like a lot of people do, but the majority of this board that complain about lon and his recruiting do get hung up on the stars that a lot of these guys have.

A ton of guys are complaining about Cortes and yet his profile looks better than McClung‘s at this point in their career. We don’t know if he will pan out but I think it’s funny that Cortes is not getting some of the pub that some of you guys are now giving mcClung and acting like beard just signed a five-star recruit.

He developed well at Georgetown. I just hope Lon can get something out of his current roster. The JuCo's he has signed recently have been very meh. The roster this year is very meh. Especially if those transfers can't come in. Losing Doo and Bienemy and adding Phipps? Not a good plus/minus. Where as Beard is able to add a top transfer. There is a reason everyone wanted him. People much smarter than this board.

Now all of a sudden Bienemy is a big loss?!? MANY of the posters on this board possibly yourself included, did nothing but BLAST bienemy last season and now that he’s gone he’s now irreplaceable? Give me a break. Also, a lot of the guys on the ‘meh’ current roster you speak of were higher rated guys than mcclung. The kid had good stats on an avg GTown team so now he’s a cant miss prospect?

Why dont you let phipps play a game first as he too has about the same profile as mcclung did coming out of high school before you deem him a disappointment. Of the two transfers, its well known that the staff is only counting on one of them this year anyway.

We all get that you think Lon is too old and cant Recruit and should retire, but this act gets old that every guy on his roster sucks and that every other team gets the best guys possible and their coaches are applauded for their efforts while OU sits on the side and watches.

I watched mcclung play in high school, so i personally would have been excited.

He had a big footprint on youtube. So i think this is a bit apples to oranges with the point you're trying to drive in.

Also, I'm excited about Cortes. Hes gonna surprise A LOT of people here

It’s believed the NCAA is going to be really lenient on granting transfers this year. Next year the 1 time transfer rule will be in play so they won’t care as much this year.

Thanks for sharing! I think the one guarantee for this season is that there will head-scratching inconsistency in which players are granted waivers!

This kind of reminds me of law enforcement practices after a law is changed.... Take marijuana for example. Let's say some law passed where marijuana was going to be legal, but it had a date on it of 1/1/2021. Hardly seems right to arrest someone for having marijuana on September 1st, and putting their life through something that in a very short time would carry no penalty at all.

That's kind of what's happening with the NCAA Transfer rules... they should just grant all the waivers, because it doesn't make sense to continue screwing with the players for one more year.

There are typically three types of people on these issues.

Type A
Hey, the rule doesn't change until 1/1/2021. That is well known. Those people who broke the law even though there is a pending law change should be charged and prosecuted exactly like the person arrested last year, and the year before that, etc. Anything else isn't fair to the guy from last year.

Type B
Don't enforce the law from the time the new one was signed, but keep the punishment in effect for previous offenses.

Type C
Now that the action is legal, it's not fair that ANYONE is currently being punished. Not only are we going to not enforce it anymore, but we are going to expunge records and let everyone out or off the hook that is currently being punished.
