Jenni Carlson doesn't like it...

You're still the tops in my book!

What a nice thing to say, thanks. I agree that skyvue is the man.

The only thing that bugs me about Tramel is when he tries to hammer home some new nickname for something. Berry: "Boomers" is not going to catch on. Time to let it go!

I sometimes feel like Berry secretly wishes he worked in radio.

It's a totally fair point. I'm definitely talking more about columns than news stories or features; I just think it's so hard to consistently come up with new/interesting takes on stories. Far too often you end up with people relying on the same old tired cliches or saying something for the sake of being controversial. What I like about Tramel is that even if I don't agree with him I feel like he's coming from a point of view and has given the issue some real thought.

Not sure if Jenni got hired right out of college or not, but you are right, she was really young. I have no idea why, but I remember her very first column for the Oklahoman. It was an "email" to her parents talking about how she moved to Oklahoma. It was weird. Not sure why I remember that.

Who is your favorite sportswriter, red recluse?

just can't go wrong with mitch albom. i used love david dupree when he was with the USA today. also like richard justice because he's a good source for baseball knowledge, which i lack. stephen a. is hit or miss. and of course the sports guy because of his humor and pop culture references. but, like you have always said, how much will his stuff hold up because of that?

in regards to jenni, i have to say, when i worked there, she couldn't have been nicer to someone she didn't have to give a flip about. she was helpful, fun and engaging to be around, which gets lost because the average reader never get to see writers in that light. and, if it weren't for her, we wouldn't have one of the all-time greatest meltdowns. justin bieber thanks her.

Didn't know you worked at the Oklahoman. And I've heard that about her. Honestly I hope she sticks around just to annoy Traber. It kills me how whenever someone calls in and criticizes him, he gets indignant and starts screaming "Why even listen? Why don't you change the channel if you hate me so much!?" One of these days I'm going to call in and ask why he keeps reading Jenni.

I forgot I had said that about Simmons. I remember that now. Still love him though. Can't wait for his new website. Have you seen the writers he's hired? Big time.

Tramel is the best pure writer on the Oklahoman's entire staff IMO. Of any department at the paper.

Jenni's not my favorite, for various reasons, but I endorse shooterms' view. The internet is littered with blogs of people who thought they had something to say but ran out of ideas after the first six posts.

agree 100%, big fan of Tramel

yeah, is klosterman making a full-time transition into sports? because i don't know a whole lot about the new site, and that looks to be very intriguing.

I have the same thing to say about Carlson's opinion as a did about Molly's on the New Student group thread, who cares?

Not sure really, I think I read the site is going to be 70% sports and 30% pop culture so he'll probably still write a lot about music and stuff. I was surprised how much sports he knew when he started going on Simmons' podcasts.

I am not sure who all is involved, I know he hired Katie Baker from Deadspin and Lane Brown of New York Mag. There are a few others I can't remember at the moment. Going to be interesting.

When Jenni C. doesn't like something, then I know that the right descion was made!!!

Buzz was exciting when compared to Capel. Carlson endorsed Pastner for the job.

But we already tried a .com stock. Kruger is IBM. A sure thing.

Soooo, let me get this straight. If you are not a "journalist", you can't comment on the quality of other journalists, although other "jounalists" sort of share your opinion???

I feel like I'm reading the details of a conversation between a guy and his mother-in-law about one of her below average relatives.

Jenni is like a box of chocolates, she starts writing & you never know what she will say!!!:facepalm

she also doesn't like shaving her pits...and she wears tofu birkenstocks and hemp mumus

I didn't say anything about only journalists being able to comment. I don't have a problem with people criticizing her. I do have a problem with people who have difficulty formulating their thoughts into the written word, puffing their chests on a message board about what a terrible writer she is, all the while pretending they could do a better job. It's become fashionable to criticize her, even by semi-illiterates who have jumped on board, most likely to make themselves appear sophisticated.

...or maybe she's that bad...:woot

If you can't determine which spelling of "to" vs. "too" to use, and can't spell "didn't", do you really have any business criticizing a professional writer? Or, for that matter, if you can't spell "hail"?
